Miami’s newest beacon of luxury and lifestyle, Celino South Beach announces the appointment of one of its key executive team members, Domingo Velasco as Director of Sales, who will spearhead the efforts in leading the largest hospitality development in the history of Ocean Drive.
Slated to open this spring, the iconic strip’s newest crown jewel will reveal a sophisticated, oceanfront haven that pulses with the energy of contemporary fashion, flavors, culture and elegance.
“Leading up to the opening of our landmark hotel, we strived to handpick a dynamic and talented team that supports our mission in creating an elevated and memorable experience for travelers,” said Ricardo Tabet, hotelier and CEO of Optimum Development. “With Michael’s vast in-market expertise and Domingo’s savvy global experience, I am confident that we will revolutionize and introduce a new standard of luxury on South Beach.”
Leading the hotel’s sales and marketing efforts, Velasco is a true globetrotter having lived in Madrid, New York, Miami, Munich and San Juan as well as being fluent in six languages including Spanish, German, English, French, Portuguese and Italian. Most recently, Velasco served as director of sales and marketing at Delano South Beach and St. Regis Bahia Beach in Puerto Rico.
An expert in luxury hospitality for more than two decades, Velasco started his career in hotel operations at El San Juan Hotel in his native Puerto Rico. He continued his growth in luxury hospitality sales in New York, working for prestigious companies such as Relais & Châteaux and Rosewood Caribbean Resorts. Shortly after, he joined the team at The Carlyle in New York City. His talents quickly flourished and secured him the position of director of sales and marketing for La Samanna, part of Belmond Hotels, in the French West Indies.
“We’re thrilled to have Domingo joining the Highgate team. His extensive background in luxury hospitality and guest experience will further the success of the Celino South Beach when its doors open this spring,” said Steve Barick, Chief Operating Officer of Highgate.
