Ulf Bremer, a seasoned hotelier with over two decades’ work experience in travel and hospitality, has been appointed general manager of Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong. He oversees the overall hotel operations, which includes an extended family of over 750 colleagues, 565 guestrooms and 8 distinct restaurants.
No stranger to Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Mr Bremer has worked at many flagship Shangri-La properties over a span of 18 years, including in Shanghai, Taipei, Kota Kinabalu, Beijing and Jakarta. Prior to his current appointment, he was the general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi in 2017 and of Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong between 2014 and 2017.

A German national, Mr Bremer embarked on his professional hospitality career in Switzerland in 1985. He then spent over 20 years holding various positions at a number of international luxury hotel groups. A truly international hotel veteran, he has previously worked in major cities around the world, including in Japan, Germany, England, Saudi Arabia, China, South East Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Under the leadership of Mr Bremer, the hotel will continue to delight guests with the legendary Shangri-La hospitality and engaging experiences. Without a doubt, he will take the property to new heights in terms of hotel performance and service standards, enhancing value for the guests, owners and business partners.
