Skål International is thrilled to remind the opening of submissions for the 2024 Annual Sustainable Tourism Awards, celebrating excellence and innovation in the tourism industry. As a prestigious recognition of outstanding contributions to responsible and sustainable practices, these awards launched in 2002 aim to honour entities whose remarkable achievements have made significant impacts.
We invite companies from the public and private sectors, educational institutions, NGOs, and government agencies related to tourism worldwide who have demonstrated exceptional prowess and dedication to advancing the boundaries of sustainability in their operations.
Skål International continues its collaboration with UN Tourism
This year, Skål International is pleased to announce continued collaboration with the esteemed UN Tourism. During their General Assembly and 44th Affiliate Members Plenary Session held on 16 October 2023, in Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Skål International’s submission for the joint promotion of the Skål Sustainable Tourism Awards Project was accepted for the Affiliate Members Department Programme of Work 2024-2025, under the category “Affiliate Members’ projects and initiatives.
UN Tourism’s support of the STA program providing Skål International with their global platforms to promote the STA program and its winners, is an opportunity to showcase excellent “best practices” that can serve as great examples for other institutions, companies, and countries to help in their learning and practice for a more sustainable future.
Skål International and its partnership with Biosphere Tourism and
the Responsible Tourism Institute
Skål International is also delighted to keep its partnership with Biosphere Tourism and the Responsible Tourism Institute since 2018, who will also award each winner with the “Skål/Biosphere Sustainable Special Award” consisting of a one-year free subscription to the Biosphere Sustainable platform, where the winner will be able to create their own personalized Sustainability Plan for continuous improvement and recognition of the efforts of their companies or organisations.

Sustainable Travel International joins Skål International as a partner in the framework of these awards. It is a pleasure to count on this prestigious entity to make the objective of these awards a reality and to bring them closer to the international tourism community.
Open call for the Skål International Sustainable Tourism Awards 2024
Entries will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprised of industry leaders and experts, ensuring a rigorous and fair assessment process. Their identities will be revealed officially during the Awards ceremony to be held in Izmir, Türkiye, on 17 October 2024.
