One year ago, Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) launched the Considerate Collection with 25 founding members of actively sustainable luxury hotels. Today the luxury brand adds a further five properties to the collection and celebrates 43 hotels, almost 40,000 trees planted in collaboration with TreeSisters, a first-of-its-kind partnership with new sustainability platform Weeva, and a collaboration with luxury amenities brand Vanity Group.
The Considerate Collection has grown by over 70% in the last year to 43 outstanding hotels, each displaying strong alignment with partner Global Sustainable Tourism Council’s (GSTC) framework. Twenty per cent of SLH’s overall new hotel additions this year have been Considerate Collection hotels, as the brand increasingly attracts more properties of this kind. The latest additions include Casale Panayiotis, Cyprus, a village restoration project turned luxury hotel, which rests quietly in the Troodos mountains, representing a regenerative alternative to beachside stays. Joining also is Barracuda Hotel & Villas, Itacaré, Brazil, a secluded all-suite retreat effortlessly blending its Bahian roots with the owners’ Swedish heritage. The 26-room property has sustainability in its soul and introduces guests to the raw beauty of Itacaré. 15th-century, restored farming estate Villa Petriolo in Tuscany is another welcome addition with its Michelin Green Star restaurant and 0km approach to its organic offering. An SLH member since 2005, Aleenta Resort & Spa Phuket is one of two new additions from Thailand. The other is Zeavola Resort in Krabi, renowned for its strong sense of community extended to the local Chao Ley (the people of the Sea).
