Sydney recorded best hotel performance of the pandemic-era in September

Sydney’s monthly hotel performance reached a pandemic-era high, according to preliminary September 2022 data from STR.

Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour

  • Occupancy: 71.8%
  • Average daily rate (ADR): AUD252.13
  • Revenue per available room (RevPAR): AUD181.05

The market’s occupancy and RevPAR levels were their highest since February 2020, while ADR was the highest since February 2018. When looking at daily data, the highest occupancy levels were recorded on Saturdays: 17 September (89.4%), helped by the AFL preliminary final, and 24 September (88.1%), supported by a myriad of cultural and sporting events. As of 4 October, STR’s Forward STAR data showed October occupancy on the books at 54%, illustrating a strong base for demand to continue upward.
