YHS announces 2022 virtual summit theme and starts ticket sales

Young Hoteliers Summit 2022The Young Hoteliers Summit (YHS) will take place online from the 7th to the 9th of March 2022. As the largest student-run hospitality summit worldwide, YHS’ objective is to engage hospitality experts, media partners, and student delegates from the most prestigious hospitality institutions in insightful discussions on the industry’s latest issues.

To tackle the most relevant industry topics, the summit focuses on a different theme every year. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the countless waves of economic, social, and environmental problems that followed, have continuously swamped the shores of the hospitality industry. In this challenging situation, many industry professionals had to rethink their business to break through the tidal wave. This year’s Young Hoteliers Summit will deep-dive into how these individuals, companies, and governmental bodies embraced the change and discovered new shores of hospitality. The YHS team is thus proud to announce “Breaking Through the Tide” as the theme for 2022.

To accompany all participants through this versatile topic, four panels will lead the way in navigating the attendees through the most diverse issues. A lineup of keynotes and fireside chats tackling various topics have also been scheduled. To start off, industry experts will delve into the concept of B-Leisure and how humanity had to re-think the concept of a static workplace. This panel, The Future of You, will attempt to discuss how hospitality providers are innovating and reinventing themselves to blur the lines between business and leisure. To follow, Reconstructing Leadership, a manager’s roundtable, will analyze how leaders with a 360-degree view of business can help navigate a crisis while investigating how they are tackling the industry’s most pertinent problems. The third panel of YHS 2022, Before Breaking Ground, will focus on destination management and how it is impacted by political implications, infrastructures, environmental studies, and accessibility. Just as how the pandemic has forced people to start looking at their backyards, discussions will revolve around YHS’ home ground: Switzerland. Finally, The Only Way Forward will showcase how trailblazers in our industry are reinventing themselves for a better future that fights for people, planet and profit all the same.

Marriott International will be by YHS’ side as the Challenge Provider for the 2022 edition of the summit. With nearly a century of experience in the hospitality industry, Marriott is a hotel chain that has distinguished itself by finding a balance between continuous innovation and long-lasting quality. As the 2022 Challenge Provider, Marriott will construct a practical scenario, the YHS Challenge, that the student delegates will have to solve in randomly selected teams. The student delegates are encouraged to engage in cross-cultural thinking, are pushed to innovate, and are pressured to propose viable solutions under intense time constraints. On the final summit day, all teams will present their solutions to a jury of hospitality experts.
