Building on its recently completed multi-million-dollar reinvestment program, Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa – an iconic Coachella Valley resort – has appointed Mark Kirsch as its new director of hotel room operations.
In his new position, Kirsch is charged with managing all daily business and department functions for the newly refreshed 560-room property – working to ensure guest satisfaction while serving as a strategic business leader across multiple departments.
According to Tim Pyne, general manager of Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa, Kirsch is a 20-year hospitality industry veteran with a proven record of operational leadership in full-service, resort and lifestyle hotel environments, is well poised to further strengthen the resort’s reputation as one of the Coachella Valley’s premier resort destinations. He was most recently opening general manager of the AC/Element Symphony Park in Las Vegas, where he played a key role in launching one of the largest dual-brand properties in the Marriott portfolio.
“Mark joins us at an exciting time for Renaissance Esmeralda as we continue to elevate every aspect of the guest experience,” said Pyne. “His extensive operational expertise, combined with his passion for hospitality, makes him an excellent addition to our leadership team to leverage the resort’s recent transformation to set new standards for excellence in the Coachella Valley.”
Kirsch has an extensive resumé with senior leadership positions including regional director of operations for Tharaldson Hospitality, where he oversaw multi-property portfolios across nationally recognized Marriott, Hilton and IHG brands; general manager for Hyatt Regency in Valencia, Calif.; regional director of operations for Louisville, Ky.-based Lakshmi Narayana Hospitality Group and general manager for Marriott Hotel’s White Lodging Corporation in Louisville. He is a proven leader in all aspects of hotel operations, with proven success overseeing front office, housekeeping, spa, recreation, security and guest services.
Actively involved in community initiatives, including support for the Ronald McDonald House and Back on My Feet, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from Eastern Kentucky University.
Kirsch’s appointment comes as Renaissance Esmeralda completes a comprehensive property-wide transformation designed to create a more contemporary, immersive and distinctly desert-inspired resort experience. The reinvestment encompasses refreshed public areas, meeting and event spaces, a redesigned lobby and front desk, enhanced outdoor amenities, four new pickleball courts and the debut of Seven Olive, a modern gastropub, along with new Topgolf Swing Suites. Set on 23 acres of Mediterranean-inspired grounds, the resort has also introduced an extensive collection of commissioned artwork and sculptures, new poolside cabana furnishings and upgraded guest amenities. The renovation blends mid-century modern design with the raw beauty and distinctive character of the surrounding desert landscape.
