The Peninsula Paris announced the appointment of Mauro Governato as General Manager. Mr. Governato will oversee all hotel operations in his new leadership role, from managing hotel staff and delivering an excellent guest experience to overseeing strategic planning for all departments and serving as the hotel’s leader and ambassador.
In his most recent role, Mauro served as the Senior General Manager for both the Four Seasons Hotel Milan and the Four Seasons Hotel Tunis, responsible for the operation of one of Italy’s and Tunisia’s top luxury hotels. Prior to his Senior General Manager position, Mauro spent seven years with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts holding General Manager positions at the Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon, Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris, and Four Seasons Resort Provence at Terre Blanche.
With more than 34 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Governato’s most recent position began in 2015 when he was named Senior General Manager for both the Four Seasons Hotel Milan and the Four Seasons Hotel Tunis – following a brief stint at Rocco Forte Hotels’ Hotel de Russie in Rome, which began in early 2014. Prior to this appointment, Governato had spent seven years with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, holding General Manager positions at the Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon, Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris, and Four Seasons Resort Provence at Terre Blanche.
Speaking of the appointment, Mr Peter Borer, Chief Operating Officer, The Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited, owner and operator of The Peninsula Hotels, said: “We are looking forward to having Mauro Governato join the team at The Peninsula Paris and believe his wealth of experience will be a tremendous benefit to the continuing brand presence of our name in Paris. We are sure he will be able to take The Peninsula Paris to the next level.”
Governato began his career in the food and beverage industry, working in Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe for a 15-year period. Having worked in Hong Kong, London, Paris, Lisbon, Rome, Milan, the Maldives, Mauritius, and the Bahamas, he has a wealth of international experience with luxury institutions and brands.
Born and raised in Turin, Italy and fluent in English, Italian, French and German, Governato is particularly focused on guest experience, believing that “luxury service should happen without guests knowing where it comes from.” After studying at the School of Hotel Management Torino (Italy), he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Technology, Hotel Administration and Management, and also holds a diploma in Hospitality Administration and Management from Cornell University’s General Manager Program.
