Melbourne’s newest design-forward hotel, Hannah St Hotel, quietly slipped into the heart of the city’s arts and entertainment precinct late last year, introducing a refreshing approach to business and social gatherings. Just a short walk from the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), Hannah St was designed as a neighbourhood hotel that would knit into the community; welcome new conversations and offer something new and invigorating to Southbank.

From the outset, it’s clear that Flack Studio emphatically embraces the third space ethos in their design for the property – delivering purpose-built environments for connection, collaboration, and creativity.

From its networking lobby lounge and custom-designed co-working spaces to an indoor/outdoor rooftop terrace with panoramic views, Hannah St offers a curated mix of formal and informal spaces designed to spark ideas and foster meaningful interactions*. Complemented by state-of-the-art technology and a vibrant hospitality offering from Melbourne’s own The Mulberry Group, the hotel is set to become a standout destination for corporate and creative communities.

At the heart of Hannah St’s classic meetings offering are the Bridge Rooms – two architecturally designed spaces by Melbourne’s acclaimed Flack Studio.

Perched in the hotel’s iconic corner windows, these rooms combine natural light, flexible layouts, and cutting-edge AV technology to cater to everything from intimate boardroom sessions to hybrid events.

  • Bridge Room 1 (85m²): Perfect for presentations, large boardroom meetings, long table dinners or cocktails and networking.
  • Bridge Room 2 (28m²): Perfect for intimate meetings, team planning days and workshops.
  • Combined format: The two rooms can merge with larger groups.

High-definition drop down projector, PTZ cameras, wireless presentation systems, ceiling-mounted beam-steering microphones (as well as lapel and handhelds), teleconferencing capability as well as USB-C and Bluetooth connectivity and IR hearing augmentation – ensure seamless connectivity for in-person and virtual participants.

Beyond the Bridge Rooms, Hannah St offers co-working zones, quiet rooms, and training spaces – flexible environments designed as modern third spaces for remote work, breakout sessions, or creative workshops. A soundproof podcast studio with professional-grade acoustics adds another layer, giving content creators a dedicated space to connect and create on the go.

According to Hotel General Manager Peter Minatsis, Hannah St’s events team will deliver experience-driven events for those seeking the benefits of a true third space – environments that blur the lines between work and social connection, with hospitality seamlessly built in.

“We have beautiful, inviting spaces for long, languid lunches or intimate dinner parties. These venues are framed by considered design and layered textures where every detail invites conversation, creating an atmosphere that feels effortless yet elevated,” he said. “For those chasing sundown sessions, the hotel’s rooftop Terrace Lounge is an all-weather venue that bears the imprint of Flack Studio’s colourful design aesthetic.” Clients looking for mindful breaks or creative recharge can tap into curated wellness experiences – from guided stretch and meditation sessions to smoothie or herbal tea stations – while in-house guests enjoy a true third space on Level 9 – a sanctuary designed for balance and connection. Featuring a 20m indoor pool, spa, sauna, and fitness studio, it’s the perfect place to transition from work mode to wellbeing when the day is done.

Excitingly, the hotel’s food and beverage offering is powered by The Mulberry Group, the creative force behind Melbourne icons like Higher Ground, Top Paddock and, more recently, Hazel. Expect

authentic experiences, sustainable practices, and menus that celebrate Victoria’s best produce across four distinct venues:

  • Bar Hannah: The heartbeat of the hotel, from morning coffee to cocktails and nightcaps on the lobby level.
  • Carriage Lounge: An intimate space for networking, private events, or casual meetings.
  • Coupette Corner Bistro & Bar: Channels the energy of a European bistro – classic details, a touch of play – reframed through a contemporary Melbourne lens.
  • The Terrace Lounge – a flowing indoor/outdoor venue with panoramic city views that hosts up to 200 guests cocktail-style, making it perfect for networking events, launch parties, rooftop grazing and after-hours celebrations.

“Bar Hannah and Carriage Lounge take their cue from the original modernist Italian bars of Milan. A place to pause between moments – waiting for an Uber, reading your work notes, listening to music, meeting a friend, or sharing a glass before meeting colleagues for dinner,” Peter said.

Paying homage to Melbourne’s renowned coffee culture, Hannah St Coffee at street level serves locally crafted brews from Square One Coffee, keeping delegates and guests energised and engaged throughout their stay.

According to Peter every space at Hannah St has been crafted to support connection and creativity.

And, when the conferencing is done, guests can retire to one of the 188 guest rooms crafted by Flack Studio. Here, expressive design, bold materiality, and curated details create a layered, lived-in feel that’s distinctly Melbourne.

“Together with Time & Place and The Mulberry Group, we’ve created an environment where business travellers, event planners, and creatives can gather with the kind of hospitality Melbourne is known for – thoughtful details, a relaxed pace, and food that brings people together,” he said.

TFE Hotels’ Global Sales Officer, Shahnaz Bakhshay, agrees saying Hannah St was an exciting addition to the Collection by TFE portfolio alongside The EVE Hotel Sydney, The Calile in Brisbane, and The Hotel Britomart in Auckland.

“This hotel brings together bold design, cutting-edge spaces that invite conversation, and a hospitality offering that reflects Melbourne’s creative energy,” she said. “Our rooms feel familiar

from the moment you step inside. Soft light, warm timber, and custom Flack Studio detailing create spaces that are calm, comfortable and quietly considered.”

“We can’t wait to showcase this property to our MICE and corporate clients during AIME (Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event) and beyond.”
