Radisson Hotel Group has signed Canterbury International Hotel Melbourne as a member of Radisson Individuals, bringing the brand to Melbourne for the first time with investment outfit, Celestial Capital.
The 74-room hotel will undergo a soft refurbishment, followed by further refurbishment works after opening later this year as part of a phased enhancement plan for the property.
Located on Springvale Road in the Springvale Road Business District, the hotel sits next to the Tally Ho office park, a central corporate precinct spanning more than 100,000 square metres across 27 buildings. The surrounding Forest Hill area is home to the corporate offices of a range of national and international organisations, including World Vision, Motorola, Osteon, and the BMW Training Centre. The hotel also provides convenient access to nearby Greenwood Business Parks, offering over 20,000 square metres of commercial space and amenities.
Victor Kondarios, Director, Development, Australasia, Radisson Hotel Group, said: “The signing of Canterbury International Hotel Melbourne, a member of Radisson Individuals, reflects our continued focus on quality growth in Australia and the wider Asia Pacific region. Bringing Radisson Individuals to Melbourne for the first time is a meaningful step toward expanding our footprint in key gateway cities and strengthening our offering for owners seeking the power of an international platform without losing a hotel’s independent character. With its strong corporate catchment and extensive meetings and events facilities, the hotel is well positioned to perform year-round, and it supports our long-term ambition to grow our portfolio across priority markets in the region.”
“Canterbury International Hotel Melbourne adds another globally recognised flag to our growing portfolio. It follows the recent flagging of Park Inn by Radisson Melbourne Carlton, which we acquired two years ago, and builds on recent private client acquisitions in Townsville and Sydney. This new signing is our second Radisson hotel in Melbourne, and it underscores our deepening collaboration with the brand and our strategy of driving value through partnerships,” Celestial Managing Partner Raymond Tran said.
The property is designed to support meetings, events, and longer stays, with extensive function space and an outdoor courtyard with a fireplace. Facilities include the Atrium lobby café and bar, Oliver restaurant, a ballroom, a fitness room, a spa, and an outdoor swimming pool.
The hotel is accessible by road, approximately 26 kilometres or a 32-minute drive from Melbourne CBD, and around 45 kilometres or a 42-minute drive from Melbourne Airport. It is also connected by rail via a station located around 2.5 kilometres away, with services operating roughly every 15 minutes into Melbourne CBD.
