Following its celebrated reopening in August 2025, Hotel Gabrielli Venezia – Starhotels Collezione announces the reopening of its panoramic Gabrielli Rooftop Terrace for the summer season. Set atop the historic palazzo on the prestigious Riva degli Schiavoni, the terrace once again becomes one of Venice’s most enchanting destinations: a place to dine, drink and linger, with sweeping views across the lagoon from San Giorgio Maggiore Island to Punta della Dogana and the Lido.

This season marks a complete reinvention of the Gabrielli Rooftop Terrace’s signature cocktail menu, conceived by Bar Manager Diego Filippone, drawing on the heritage and the spirit of the hotel. The new menu is organized into four distinct chapters, each celebrating a different facet of Hotel Gabrielli, its special guests, architecture, and place on the lagoon. “The Illustrious” pays tribute to the celebrated figures who once stayed here, among them Franz Kafka and Sigmund Freud, with drinks such as Metamorfosi and Padre dell’Orda, a cocktail inspired by Freud’s concept of the primal father “The Pillars” takes its cue from the hotel’s most distinctive architectural elements, the quadrifore windows and the monumental entrance staircase, rendered in liquid form through creations such as Quadrifora. “The Brilliance” captures the iconic moments and symbols of the hotel’s surroundings: from the Orient Express legacy to the lagoon sunset, with cocktails including Sunset and Viaggiatori. The menu is completed by a selection of elegantly crafted mocktails inspired by forgotten Venetian words – Altana, the rooftop terrace that has always defined Venetian domestic life, and Furlane, the soft-soled slippers once worn by gondoliers – each evoking the timeless spirit of the Serenissima. Presiding over this new narrative is Leone Alato, the hotel’s signature cocktail and the symbol of Venice itself: a blend of Carpano Classico red vermouth, Bitter Luxardo, and lemon foam, reflecting Gabrielli’s character, a drink as bold and unmistakably Venetian as the winged lion it is named after.

This year, the terrace takes a decisive step forward as a culinary destination in its own right. Guests can enjoy a structured all-day dining experience, open from 11:00am to 10:30pm, with the presence of the Chef and a live cooking element that brings the kitchen into the open-air setting of the lagoon. The menu, signed by Executive Chef Mirko Pistorello, draws on the finest ingredients of the Venetian area and the Rialto market, offering guests a sophisticated yet relaxed journey through Italian flavour. Starters include a raw fish selection – five varieties sourced daily from Rialto – alongside a Tuna Tartare with mango chutney and bell pepper, and the classic Venetian Cicchetti served with focaccia. First courses include the Gerardo di Nola spaghettoni with clams and parsley gel, and Fusillone pasta with three-tomato sauce and fresh ricotta. Among the main courses, Rialto market Frittura, a fillet of Branzino with Bassano asparagus and lemongrass, and a Veneto sirloin Tagliata round out a menu that spans the breadth of Italian culinary tradition.

The reopening of the Gabrielli Rooftop Terrace marks a new chapter for the property, offering a setting that balances heritage and contemporary elegance. The rooftop reflects the spirit of Venice through a design inspired by the lagoon’s colours and the building’s historic character. Brick-red accents, refined furnishings, and open-air spaces create an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and relaxed, perfectly suited to long summer evenings.

Complementing the rooftop experience, Felice al Gabrielli Restaurant and K Lounge Bar continue to offer a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere, where Venetian and Italian flavours are presented in a setting that transitions seamlessly from day to evening.

The reopening of Gabrielli Rooftop Terrace reaffirms Hotel Gabrielli’s position as one of Venice’s most distinctive addresses, where history, design, and hospitality come together in perfect harmony. As the summer unfolds, the rooftop once again becomes a place to gather, celebrate, and take in the unmatched beauty of the lagoon from above.
