Singapore-based hospitality company, Furama Hotels International (FHI) is poised to debut its eponymous hotel brand in Australia this winter, announcing the arrival of the Furama Darling Harbour in Sydney on 1 July 2024.

Singapore-based hospitality FHI currently manages more than 40 hotels, villas, and resorts, availing over 7500 rooms in the Asia Pacific region.   In delivering its first Australian hotel, Furama will rebrand an existing property – the Holiday Inn Darling Harbour – which has been owned but not previously operated by FHI for more than two decades.

Furama Darling Harbour Hotel Manager, Melvin Lim, said the milestone Furama Darling Harbour opening is the next major step in growing the award-winning chain of mid-range hotels in key new markets across the Asia Pacific region.

“We are very excited to introduce the Furama brand to Australia for the first time,” Mr Lim said. “As our inaugural address under our flagship four-star brand, the Furama Darling Harbour signals an exciting new chapter of expansion for the group in this region, as we look to bring our guests a fresh perspective and a renewed commitment in delivering exceptional hospitality experiences.”

The hotel’s timely transition presents new opportunities for Furama Darling Harbour to elevate the guest experience through a series of upgrades expected to commence in early 2025 that will include the rejuvenation of the hotel’s lobby and restaurant spaces, and the introduction of fresh technology improvements such as mobile check-in/out, mobile TV casting and digital key access.

In addition, the Furama Darling Harbour is strategically located to benefit from the $44 million revitalisation plans for the nearby Haymarket area, as well as the creation of a $3 billion Tech Central Innovation hub close by.
