Houston’s most stylish hotel, Thompson Houston is now accepting reservations

Thompson Houston, Houston’s newest and most stylish luxury hotel will open its doors on December 21.  Located beside the verdant Buffalo Bayou Park, aThompson Houston historic 160-acre waterside green space just west of downtown Houston, Thompson Houston will be a place-making and experience-provoking hotel for seasoned globetrotters, business travelers, and Houstonians alike. Housed in a gleaming contemporary new tower, Thompson Houston will introduce to the city the first-of-its-kind urban resort environment blending high-profile design, boundary-pushing lifestyle amenities, world-class dining, and extraordinary event space all against a backdrop of rare unobstructed views of downtown Houston’s skyline.

The modern hotel will debut 172 guest rooms, including 34 suites with floor-to-ceiling windows boasting unparalleled views of the surrounding cityscape. The futuristic new build features a sleek glass and steel facade featuring curved lines, designed by award-winning architect, HOK, while interiors have been envisioned by Houston-based architecture and design firm Abel Design Group, featuring warm earthy colors, organic materials, brass fixtures, and hardwood floors paying homage to the hotel’s natural setting of nearby Buffalo Bayou Park.

Capturing the spirit of Houston, the mid-century modern lobby in the sky will welcome guests to an elevated yet comfortable contemporary space. Designed to evoke the spirit of a Texas oil baron’s home, guestrooms will feature entirely custom-made furnishings and spacious en-suite bathrooms with marble vanities and custom wall treatments and tiling.

A dynamic destination for leisure and wellness, Thompson Houston will showcase one of Houston’s largest pool decks, the focal point of a one-acre outdoor rooftop “living room.” Sophisticated features will include a custom-tiled infinity pool bordered by cabanas offering views of downtown. Guests can look forward to sun-drenched cocktails and bites at rooftop restaurant and lounge Sol 7, and a 2,500-square-foot greenspace will provide an idyllic setting for outdoor wedding ceremonies and events.

With an entire floor dedicated to wellness, the full-service spa at Thompson Houston will feature six grand treatment rooms, a hair and nail salon, indoor and outdoor sanctuary for relaxation, state-of-the-art 24-hour fitness, and spa treatments on par with those of a destination spa resort. Additional wellness amenities will include a sauna, and hotel guests will also receive access to the EOS fitness center, steps from the hotel.

Further adding to the vibrant offerings in the culinary capital of the South, two eclectic restaurants will offer distinct culinary concepts within the hotel. Innovative and chef-driven concepts to open this winter and spring include a supper-club-style restaurant pairing an elevated dining experience with some of the city’s best entertainment and a traditional French brasserie offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Additionally, the hotel will debut a cafe in partnership with a first-of-its-kind local coffee company, Maven Coffee Company, offering specialty coffees, pastries, and coffee-based cocktails to guests. Maven was founded by Astros player Lance McCullers Jr. with local young entrepreneurs, Juan Carlos Martinez de Aldecoa and Blake Fertitta. Meanwhile, adjacent to the hotel and offering an anticipated extended culinary offering for hotel guests, Noble33 hospitality group will open Toca Madera and Meduza Mediterrania, providing a modern Mexican steakhouse and inventive eastern Mediterranean dining experience in Thompson Houston’s backyard, also opening this winter.

Houston’s most glamorous new destination for weddings, meetings and paramount events, Thompson Houston will offer more than 17,000 square feet of meticulously designed flexible indoor and outdoor event space to accommodate groups of up to 800 people. All venues elude timeless luxury, from intimate executive boardrooms to an 8,000-square-foot ballroom adorned with eclectic mesh chandeliers, brass accents and a private terrace. Customizable breakout rooms and pre-function space feature floor-to-ceiling windows with many rooms also boasting private, wraparound outdoor terraces with views of the city, and a private entrance for groups.

The only hotel in Houston with a 160-acre park on its doorstep, Thompson Houston will be a veritable oasis in the city. This expansive green space offers a network of trails and gardens for outdoor activities, from leisurely walks to bike rides and picnics in the park. Thompson Houston is conveniently located  near world-class shopping at the Galleria, the stately River Oaks neighborhood, downtown Houston, the Museum District, professional sports venues at Minute Maid Park and Shell Energy Stadium, and is a 25-minute drive from George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William Hobby Airport.
