Elevating Africa’s most coveted art – Singita’s bespoke galleries

singita bespoke galleriesAs part of its ongoing celebration and support of Africa’s creativity and innovation, Singita’s new gallery concept offers authentic experiences that connect guests with the artistic excellence of the continent. The Boutique & Gallery spaces at our lodges and camps have always celebrated the culture of each region, with pieces by esteemed and emerging artists immersing guests in Africa’s creative energy.

With two new imagined exhibition locales already launched at Singita Sabi Sand and Singita Kruger National Park, the aim is to expand the initiative across our range of African properties over time. Providing the perfect platform for guests to engage with coveted pieces and collectibles – and acquire sought-after works by some of Africa’s most acclaimed artists – a percentage of its proceeds will be used to support local enterprises and represent rising local talent.

Beyond showcasing art by respected and internationally collected African artists, the initiative also includes a pioneering artist resident programme – encompassing partnerships with galleries, studios, artists and curators who share our passion for elevating the continent’s creative excellence – and the conservation of its natural heritage.

The first project, with Ardmore – a business rooted in Africa’s cultural and natural abundance – is currently underway at Singita Sabi Sand, where artists are creating pieces inspired by the region’s incredible wildlife. Proceeds of the works, which will subsequently be sold, will go towards the non-profit Singita Lowveld Trust, who works tirelessly to conserve and safeguard this wilderness, while developing meaningful community partnerships.

Beyond the contributions these pieces will make towards various conservation projects, they have the potential to convey powerful concepts. “Ardmore prides itself as storytellers and we believe that through art, we can teach people the value of conservation,” says Fée Halsted, founder and creative director of Ardmore.
