TFE Hotels has announced the expansion of their homegrown Adina and Vibe Hotels brands with three design-led hotels in gateway cities that will open within the next 12 months.
MELBOURNE: Adina transforms Pentridge’s Historic B-Division into modern lifestyle precinct (Q3, 2023)
The transformation of Australia’s historic Pentridge Prison site into a mixed-use lifestyle precinct has breathed new life into the suburb of Coburg, with TFE Hotels expected to open their much-anticipated Adina Apartment Hotel Pentridge Melbourne in the back half of this year.
TFE Hotels’ Group Chief Operating Officer, Chris Sedgwick, said Developer, Shayher Group, had taken a considered approach with their transformation of the historic prison site into a modern lifestyle precinct, complete with residential apartments, shopping, dining, outdoor cinema, events space and 125 key MICE and Event hotel.
The adaptive reuse of B Division’s panopticon exercise yard into the hotel’s reception, modern glass hotel tower and porte cochere has been carefully considered, and the addition of a heritage interpretation area gives a nod to the history of the space.
In addition, 19 heritage suites have been added to the former Division B section, which will offer guests the chance to stay in historic converted prison cells – each room is made up of either 4 or 5 cells – with all the modern conveniences.
“Although somewhat unconventional, the prison’s former chapel – with its beautiful lead-light windows and huge vaulted ceilings – has also been transformed into a function centre and will hold great appeal for MICE and Wedding markets looking for that one-of-a-kind experience,” he said.
“And it’s these unique heritage features throughout the property and clever F&B concepts that we are excited to take to market in the near future.”
“I think it’s fair to say that your time will be well spent at ‘Destination Pentridge’ and, best of all, it’s just 8km from Melbourne’s city centre.”

ADELAIDE: South Australia’s first Vibe Hotel will open in 2023 (Q1, 2023)
Adelaide was voted Australia’s most liveable city, so it’s fitting that the developers of the city’s newest lifestyle hotel wanted to create the best ‘vibe’ they could within their neighbourhood precinct. The 18 storey, 123-room Vibe Hotel Adelaide is the final piece of the Flinders Street precinct puzzle, which developer, Guava Lime, have spent the past 10 years creating, and will open in early 2023.
TFE Hotels Director of Development, John Sutcliffe, said the Flinders Street precinct is expected to act as a springboard for visitors wanting to experience the best of Adelaide’s CBD.
“The hotel’s design-focused style really reflects the vibrant, inner-city community that Guava Lime have created around it,” he said. “There are fantastic restaurants, happening bars and music flooding the ground floor, with a restaurant planned for the top floors of the hotel.”
Designed by multi award-winning Loucas Zahos Architects, one standout design feature is an Australian first, with guests able to cool down in a stylish pool (or sky bridge as the architects call it) that connects Vibe Hotel Adelaide to the neighbouring ONE Apartments.
The hotel’s beautiful bathrooms are also showstoppers.
“Guestrooms will feature open-plan bathrooms and floor to ceiling windows will frame city views that extend all the way to the beautiful Adelaide Hills,” John said. “It really is something special.”

PERTH: Adina Fremantle is set to capitalise on Portside Rejuvenation Project (Q3, 2024)
Harbour hues are the colour of choice according to Adina Apartment Hotel Fremantle Perth’s interior designers who have taken inspiration from the nearby historical portside waterfront.
Fremantle is the second biggest wool producer in the world, so it’s fitting that some of the hotel’s tactile interior design heroes the local wool. Guests at the brand-new 142-room hotel – the first in Fremantle and the third Adina Apartment Hotel in Greater Perth – can expect water views over the Freemantle dock and within a stone’s throw of the bustling CBD. John Sutcliffe said the hotel, which is comprised of studios, one bedders and a series of interconnecting rooms that form two-bedroom apartments, offers views over the Freemantle Docks. “With the Fremantle Docks about to undergo a Barangaroo-style refresh, this is a really exciting and strategic location for TFE,” he said. “Conference guests will be well served as will cruise ship passengers when the nearby International Cruise terminal is completed.” “A rooftop pool (with a view corridor to the Docks), lobby bar and café, gym and light and airy meeting and events spaces complete the offering.” Builders are due to break ground later this month and the hotel is slated to open in Q3 of 2024. TFE Hotels development pipeline through 2022 and beyond
There are currently 13 hotels – equalling more than 2000 keys – in TFE’s pipeline with three hotels slated to open in Europe and ten in Australia over the next few years, including a new Adina in Brisbane and A by Adina, and Collection properties in Melbourne.
“We’ve opened 17 hotels across the last two years across our Adina, Vibe and Travelodge brands and two new brands – A by Adina (Canberra and Sydney) and Quincy (Melbourne),” John said. “Apartment hotels have really shown their versatility throughout the pandemic and our Adinas continue to hold wide appeal across a variety of markets,” he said.
“Similarly, our new brands have shown TFE can identify market demand and deliver on their experience – whether it’s through intuitive service and the idea of ‘hotel living’ at the A by Adinas, or the fun, quirk and vibrant food and beverage-led experiences at Quincy.”
