Mama Shelter is launching its third Parisian hotel, Mama Shelter Paris La Défense, in March 2022. Since beginning the Mama Shelter adventure in 2008 – when the Trigano family opened their very first Mama in Paris East – the Mama Shelter group has carried on breaking all the rules of conventional hospitality. This includes competitive pricing, whacky designs, fun brand messaging, authentic well priced food, and events that attract just as many locals as international travellers.
Since inception, Mama Shelter has opened a series of city hotels around the world and as all good things come in threes, Mama Shelter’s latest arrival will join the already well-loved Mama Shelter Paris East and Mama Shelter Paris West in the City of Love.
Housing 211 guest rooms across 14 floors, three restaurants and a rooftop area with breath-taking views over the whole of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower, Mama Shelter Paris La Défense will be located in the major business district. Completely redesigned by the Mama Design Studio, the building, which is surrounded by skyscrapers, will offer views that make you want to shout New York, New York!. Located a stone’s throw away from the Place de la Grande Arche, and many shops, cafes and restaurants, Mama Shelter Paris La Défense will be an ideal destination for international and local workers, leisure travellers and shopping fiends.
Hotel & bedrooms
Offering a completely new experience, Mama Shelter Paris La Défense will encapsulate a bold design, with a typical Mama twist. From the space-themed lobby’s carpet – created by designer Baptiste Vandaele – to the intergalactic-travel inspired ceiling prints, and dark lifts decorated with neon lights, meteorites, shooting stars and planets, Mama Shelter Paris La Défense will stay true to the offbeat, warm and truly authentic Mama Shelter brand identity.
The guest rooms will follow the same formula that has made Mama Shelter such a success: great views – in this case, over Paris and the soaring skyline of La Défense; Mama’s famous comfortable bedding overlooked by risqué mirrors; retro lamps and masks; stools that serve as bedside tables; a bench made of woven bulrush adorned with black-and-white checks; and a timeless bathroom decorated by colourful tiling, a walk-in shower and organic beauty products from the Mama Skin range.
As well as having six workshops and meeting rooms equipped with the latest technology (perfect for conferences and seminars), and Mama’s famous area devoted to arcade games, Mama Shelter Paris La Défense will also include the Mama Shop where guests can buy Mama’s favourite branded – and raunchy – products.
Food & Beverage, including the rooftop
Housing an authentic diner with retro and futuristic vibes, the colour scheme throughout will include candy-pink and lime-green tones with artwork commissioned by Beniloys and subtle planet shaped lights. Offering counter stools, booths and alcoves, meals prepared in the diner will be cooked around an open kitchen framed by an island bar made from Italian arabescato marble. Menus will include burgers, chips, sundaes and caesar salads.
A neighbouring pub-like sports bar – with a different design – will also broadcast live games from across the globe; so, welcome all sports enthusiasts! Perfect to watch the game or catch up with friends for an after work drink, the Mama pub will be another favourite for locals and guests alike.
The 14th floor is where Mama Shelter Paris La Défense really pulls out all the stops! The panoramic restaurant, with its rooftop terrace, will offer guests a timeless experience. Here, they can enjoy a lively, colourful break surrounded by a busy but clever layout consisting of the open kitchen, the backlit baby grand piano and the inspired patterned decoration that will remind you of the bazaars in the capital’s multicultural districts. Stunning panoramic rooftop views include the Louis Vuitton Foundation, the Eiffel Tower, the Montmartre village, and the Cité de la Justice.
