Marriott International has announced two anticipated lifestyle hotel openings in Austin, the dual-branded AC Hotel Austin and The Otis Hotel, an Autograph Collection hotel.
Developed by White Lodging, the country’s fastest-growing hotel ownership, management, and development company, the dual-branded complex is set to open its doors in 2020. Located at 1901 San Antonio Street along the southwest edge of the University of Texas at Austin’s campus, the two hotels will set a new standard of Texan hospitality and bring 347 rooms to the city; 191 rooms including 29 suites at The Otis Hotel, and 156 rooms including two suites at AC Hotel Austin. White Lodging is also currently under construction on the new 613-room Marriott in downtown Austin, adjacent to the Austin Convention Center.
Part of Autograph Collection’s exclusive portfolio of independent hotels around the world that connote vision, design and craft, The Otis Hotel’s overall experience and design are inspired by Austin’s very own artists, the city’s world-famous music culture, and the neighbouring University of Texas Longhorn Legacy. Natural elements will be incorporated into the design, including copper and its restorative benefits. Each of the guestrooms will feature unique touches, such as in-room record players allowing guests to select classic LPs from the hotel’s carefully curated vinyl library. Guests of The Otis Hotel will have exclusive access to the 4,000 square-foot rooftop deck, complete with an outdoor pool, cabanas, a bar, and an expansive terrace. The hotel will also offer a full-service restaurant and bar on the first level.
Founded in 1998 as a vision of Spanish hotelier Antonio Catalan, AC Hotels by Marriott was created with the belief that each aspect of the hotel experience should have a thoughtful response to “why?” AC Hotels edits away the unnecessary to remove friction, allowing guests to focus on what’s important to them. Inspired by classic European design, the brand is perfectly suited for the entrepreneurial traveller, featuring simple, clean and crisp lines that create a feeling of harmony and inspire creativity. AC Hotel Austin will offer guests the brand’s European-inspired breakfast concept at AC Kitchen and signature cocktails and tapas at AC Lounge, a unique bar on the second floor with outdoor seating, as well as shared access to the restaurant at The Otis Hotel.
Business blends with pleasure at The Otis Hotel and AC Hotel Austin, thanks to more than 7,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. The gorgeous ballroom delivers 3,480 square feet of well-appointed space for larger gatherings, while five smaller meeting rooms give event attendees the perfect spots for brainstorms and strategy sessions.
At the Northwest corner of Cesar Chavez and Trinity Streets, the company will build a striking 30-story, 613-room full-service Marriott Hotel property. The hotel will have 65,000 square feet of meeting, exhibit and entertainment space and a self-contained underground parking garage. Guests and locals will be able to visit an expansive outdoor pool, bar and entertainment zone on the hotel’s rooftop as well as two additional bars and a full-service restaurant on street level.
The hotel is under construction and scheduled to open in the summer of 2020.
