Radisson RED Kuala Lumpur City Center signed for 2022 opening

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced at HICAP (Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific), the signing of Radisson RED Kuala Lumpur City Center in Malaysia with Masteron Sdn Bhd. The 166-room new build hotel is strategically located 800 meters from the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and is expected to open in 2022.

With this signing, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group will introduce Radisson RED, an ageless millennial mindset brand, to the Malaysian market. The new property will be situated on the edge of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, an area undergoing rapid transformation, and will respond to the growing demand for new lifestyle select hospitality experiences in the city.

“We are excited to welcome our new partner in Malaysia and look forward to establishing a foothold for Radisson RED in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia is a key market in Asia Pacific and remains one of the region’s top tourist destinations. Our presence at the center of the country’s economic growth story is a significant milestone for the company,” said Thorsten Kirschke, president, Asia Pacific, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.

Radisson RED is a new hotel philosophy where lifestyle is the inspiration. Its design is bold and alive. It connects with an ageless mindset and sets expectations of an open, articulate and impeccably delivered experience. RED’s flexible service concept includes staff that caters to the DIY attitude of guests, and believes that hotels can enhance their world via art, music and fashion. At the same time, the brand offers developers and property owners a lower per-key cost than a traditional upscale hotel, through a multi-functional approach and more efficient space planning, which significantly reduce construction and operating costs, while driving higher margins.

Dato’ Choy Wai Hin, executive director, Masteron Sdn Bhd said, “Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group’s strong portfolio of brands are backed by an excellent reputation and proven expertise. With Radisson RED’s entrance into the Malaysian hospitality market, we are confident that our partnership will deliver strong returns on investment.”

Radisson RED Kuala Lumpur City Center is a 166-room new build hotel located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, within close proximity to a number of shopping complexes and skyscrapers, including the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. Spanning 27 floors, the property will feature Radisson RED elements, including beverage outlets such as Ouibar and Meet-Event rooms with a view of the Petronas Twin Towers. Facilities include a roof-top swimming pool and gym with panoramic views of the city.

“The Asia Pacific region remains the most promising and energetic growth region for Carlson Rezidor, and we see a strong trajectory over the coming years. The efforts we have put in to the business here have allowed us to realize results both qualitatively and quantitatively, and we are in a good position to double our portfolio size in the mid-term, through anchor markets as well as portfolio deals. We only see our commitment to the region growing,” continued Kirschke.

Across Asia Pacific, Carlson Rezidor has 107 hotels in operation and 88 more under development. China represents a particular regional highlight, with Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group’s unique legacy in the market developed over 20 years ago based on international proficiency, service ethics and sophisticated management systems.

The group’s China footprint includes Beijing, Chongqing, Libo, Liuzhou, Shanghai and Wuxi, where 13 hotels are spread across the country. Momentum is strong in China and investor support remains robust for Carlson Rezidor’s portfolio of brands, with several openings slated for 2017.
