Sara Serpilli has been appointed as art manager at Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown.
Her vision for the role includes initiatives such as artists’ residency programmes and enhanced art tours, ensuring that art remains a central component of the hotel’s ambience.
Serpilli will handle everything related to activations and collaborations with artists in Dubai and the region. She intends to bring out-of-the-box creativity to the table, combining her personal taste with Hotel Indigo’s values.
Through open dialogue and a commitment to showcasing diverse voices, Serpilli aims to contribute to Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown’s philosophy ‘where the tune of old meets the beat of the new’, continuing to build a neighbourhood that resonates with guests from all backgrounds.
Sara Serpilli’s background
Born and raised in Rome, where she studied cultural heritage at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Serpilli then attended two masters’ courses, one in Roman art history and the other in judicial archaeology and crimes against cultural heritage at the Criminological Studies Centre of Viterbo.
While still at university, she worked on growing her network by reaching out to emerging and well-established artists who were looking to showcase their work.
Serpilli started collaborating with contemporary art galleries, art collectives, and independent and creative hubs. She has also worked as an exhibition manager for Barbara Duran, a cosmopolitan contemporary artist, painter, and video maker. Together, they curated the White Duran Project – a significant exhibition that displayed more than 180 global artworks.
With a diverse background in art history and extensive experience collaborating with artists and galleries, Serpilli brings fresh creativity to the hotel’s art program. Her passion for the arts and dedication to fostering relationships with local artists enhance the guest experience, affirming the hotel’s reputation as a vibrant cultural hub.
