Highly experienced sales and marketing professional Kristy Williams has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing for the newly rebranded Cairns Harbourside Hotel in tropical north Queensland.
Ms Williams joins the hotel after eight years in Cairns as a sales and marketing manager, firstly for Cairns Hilton and Doubletree Cairns and then with Accor representing the Pullman International Cairns and Novotel Cairns Oasis.
Before moving to Cairns, Ms Williams established a long and successful career with the Hilton Hotels group, holding senior sales positions in Sydney, Dubai, and across the UK.
Ms Williams brings extensive experience working with Cairns’ key domestic and international source markets for Cairns. She will work with local and national industry stakeholders to highlight the hotel’s rebranding and its new ‘Stay Tropical’ theme.
Located on Cairns’ premier street, The Esplanade, overlooking picturesque Trinity Bay, Cairns Harbourside Hotel is one of the city’s most established hotels. A popular retreat for holidaymakers, business travellers, and conference groups, the hotel is surrounded by lush tropical gardens and boasts panoramic ocean and hinterland views.
Owned by long-term investor in Cairns’ tourism sector, Taisei Kanko, Cairns Harbourside Hotel offers 173 stylishly appointed rooms, each with its own private balcony. Guests can also enjoy a range of hotel amenities and services, including a swimming pool and spa, e-scooter hire, free CBD shuttle, extensive function facilities and Harbourside Bar & Kitchen, which features local produce and a natural wine selection. The hotel is just a short stroll into town along the Esplanade and only five minutes drive from Cairns Airport.
The hotel’s general manager, Glen Macdonald, said that Kristy Williams’ extensive expertise in hotel sales and marketing and long experience working in Cairns made her the ideal candidate to drive the hotel’s future sales and marketing direction.
“Kristy brings a wealth of experience to the role, and she is really excited about establishing an independent hotel in the marketplace,” said Mr Macdonald.
“We have had great feedback since rebranding the hotel. With our commitment to delivering a hotel with a distinctive tropical Cairns character we believe we can tap into a growing trend for visitors seeking accommodation that captures the destination’s DNA. With the new brand image and the plans for upgrading the hotel, we look forward to delivering a very authentic Tropical Queensland experience through interior design, the food we offer at our restaurant, and warm and relaxed service.”
