The W Aspen in Colorado recently announced the appointment of Martin Magdeburg as its general manager. Magdeburg embarked on his career in the hospitality industry at a tender age, starting with an apprenticeship at The Ritz-Carlton Schlosshotel in his native city, Berlin.
His journey took him to prestigious establishments such as the Hôtel Plaza Athenée in New York, l’Ermitage in Beverly Hills, and the Setai Miami Beach.
In 2011, he played a pivotal role in the launch of The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, before moving on to the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore.
Magdeburg’s path then led him to the W Hotels, where he initially took charge of culinary and food & beverage operations at the W Singapore on Sentosa Island, serving in this role until 2017. By the end of that year, he had risen to the position of global food & beverage leader for W Hotels, where he was instrumental in supporting the brand’s properties worldwide through various phases including development, openings, renovations, and conceptualizations.
His next role was as hotel manager at the W Shanghai in 2021, where he oversaw all operations of the property. Following his stint in Shanghai, Magdeburg was appointed director of operations at The Jaffa, A Luxury Collection Hotel in Tel Aviv, Israel, further enriching his extensive experience in the hospitality industry.
