Adding to its growing team of accomplished hospitality executives, Terranea Resort – a luxury, 582-room oceanfront resort on the Palos Verdes Peninsula – has named Robert Austin, a skillful executive with a more than 30-year background in the luxury hospitality sector, its new vice president of finance.
According to Ralph Grippo, president of Terranea, in his new position Austin will play a critical role in the creation, execution and refinement of the resort’s core financial strategies including maximizing profitability and working toward Terranea’s common goals and successes. “Rob will, no doubt, be an integral part of our team. His hire completes our newly revamped executive team representing some of the most respected professionals in this industry,” he said. “With outstanding experience in a range of luxury hotels, he is a driven and dynamic leader with a vision for excellence.
Austin has over three decades of experience in hospitality finance and accounting in the luxury hotel arena and was most recently the regional director of finance and business support for Claremont Club and Spa, A Fairmont Hotel. He was area director of finance for Pacific Hospitality Group, director of finance at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, director of finance at The Langham Huntington and the director of finance and accounting at several luxury InterContinental hotels, including the Mark Hopkins in San Francisco.
Austin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Bryant College in Rhode Island.
