Adding an accomplished marketing and branding professional to its executive team, Terranea Resort – a luxury 582-room oceanfront resort on the Palos Verdes Peninsula – has named hospitality industry veteran Chad Bustos as its chief marketing officer. In his new position, Bustos is charged with directing all strategy and brand development for the acclaimed Mediterranean-style resort – a lavish retreat with 102 acres of abundant natural beauty and breathtaking ocean views.
According to Ralph Grippo, president of Terranea, Bustos will be a core member of the resort’s executive team – overseeing repositioning and storytelling, digital and traditional marketing, advertising, e-commerce, advertising, public relations, optimization of revenue management, guest experiences and partnerships for the acclaimed resort, which encompasses world-class accommodations, The Links at Terranea, an award-winning spa, eight dining venues and over 135,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor multifunctional spaces. Meticulously designed to heighten and preserve the natural beauty of its oceanfront backdrop, the resort also has four swimming pools, a kids’ club, ecological enrichment programs, multiple wellness amenities and an onsite experience center offering a range of adventures – from tide pooling to the art of falconry.
With over 25 years of experience directing luxury hotel sales and marketing programs, Bustos is well equipped to oversee the marketing and branding of Terranea’s world class luxury experiences. Most recently the vice president of sales and marketing operations at Denver’s Sage Hospitality Group, he was also chief marketing officer for Noble House Hotels & Resorts and for 12 years held executive positions with the Irvine Company’s Resort Properties Division, working his way up the ranks to chief marketing officer. He also was founder and president of PBSR Hospitality Corporation and held executive roles with KSL Resorts and Alaska Airlines group – where he launched the airline industry’s first online ticket sales.

Bustos holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing from the University of Arizona, as well as a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Washington.
