Mission Pacific Hotel and The Seabird Resort are pleased to announce the appointments of two new Hotel Managers – Matt De Guzman and Ryan Smith. De Guzman will be at the helm of Mission Pacific Hotel while Smith will be overseeing The Seabird Resort. In their new roles, De Guzman and Smith will be responsible for managing all daily operations for their respective properties, including team member management, community engagement and guest satisfaction.

A North County San Diego native, De Guzman started his hospitality career with Highpointe Hotel Corporation in New Orleans, serving as Manager on Duty at Hampton Inn and Suites. He then went to work for MGM Resorts International in the Rooms Division, holding key leadership roles at The Mansion at MGM Grand, The Signature at MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. On his return to Southern California, he worked as Director of Housekeeping at Los Angeles’ iconic Chateau Marmont Hotel, followed by his most recent tenure as Assistant General Manager for MarBrisa, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club.
A graduate of Oregon’s Linfield College with a B.A. in Business Management, Smith has spent nearly 15 years with Hyatt Hotels Corporation. His hospitality career began as a Front Desk Host at Grand Hyatt Seattle, followed by promotions to Assistant Housekeeping Manager and Assistant Front Office Manager. Smith relocated to Park Hyatt Aviara to assume the role of Assistant Front Office manager and was quickly elevated to Front Office Manager and then Assistant Director of Rooms. Following, Smith opened Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in Nassau, Bahamas as Assistant Director of Rooms, before moving back to San Diego to serve as Director of Operations at Hyatt Regency La Jolla.
