Veteran hospitality industry leader John Rovie, most recently director of sales and marketing at Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, Calif., has been named the new director of sales and marketing at Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, a waterfront resort in the heart of the harbor district.
According to Sean Clancy, vice president and general manager of Sheraton San Diego, Rovie will supervise all sales and marketing activities for the harbor front property, developing and overseeing all sales and marketing initiatives including group and leisure sales, digital marketing, advertising, collateral and public relations. “John is a dynamic and accomplished hotelier, and we are thrilled to have him join our team,” Clancy said. “He will play an instrumental role in our upcoming multi-million renovation – which will reflect Sheraton’s refreshed brand identity with a more open lobby and residential style accommodations – slated to be completed in multiple phases over the next year.”
With an extensive background in sales and marketing for the hospitality industry, Rovie has worked for some of the country’s most iconic properties, and spent almost five years at Monarch Beach Resort, a luxury retreat on the Orange County, California, coast. He was also the director of sales and marketing for Idaho’s Coeur d’Alene Golf and Spa Resort, the vice president of sales and marketing for Colorado’s historic luxury resort The Broadmoor, the director of sales at the famed Arizona Biltmore and the director of group sales at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University.
