The Thinnai Hotel reveals new leadership team

The Thinni Hotel, Jaffna has now revealed its full senior management team, who will work together to position the hotel as one of the top luxury getaways in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka.

Janitha C. Madawala – General Manager

Janitha heads the team and manages the overall operations of the hotel including maintaining owner’s relations, developing the brand, and leading the team to achieve its business plans. His first foray into hospitality was in 2004 with Hilton Colombo as a hotel school intern and he rose through the ranks in both commercial and food & beverage division.

Janitha brings a wealth of international experience to this position with a career spanning close to 15 years, ranging from USA, Maldives, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. Under his leadership, The Thinnai continues to provide guests with memorable experiences and uphold the traditions while striving to further enhance service quality and brand value into the future.

Muthuraj Manishekaran – Executive Assistant Manager, i/c Food and Beverage

Muthuraj With his approachable persona and extensive knowledge of the industry, is set to lead the team to superlative success. With a sharp industry acumen, Muthuraj has been duly acknowledged for his leadership skills, innovative strategies, and his ability to persistently achieve goals for the organization’s development.

As a seasoned hotelier, Muthuraj has a proven record of being quick to embrace change and exudes qualities of an ideal mentor by managing his associates with compassion. Muthuraj is armed with an extensive understanding and knowledge of managerial experience in operations, guest relations, and revenue optimization.

Sajith Fernando – Executive Chef

Sajith’s talent and creativity have elevated the hotel to be among the most desired dining destinations in Jaffna. As the chef de cuisine of The Thinnai, he is continuously developing original culinary concepts and mouth-watering menus.

Sajith is a graduate of Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management. He is convinced that food should bring the ultimate joy to the consumers, and he believes that the creative approach to cooking creates a viable excuse to get together at the table. He injects new concepts into hotel restaurants’ production and kitchen management with professional skills and craftsmanship and leads the culinary team to create memorable dining experiences for the guests.

Lanthusha Pavalachandran – Executive Secretary

Lanthusha is personable and has the ability to get along with a variety of personality types. She is self-motivated and handles her responsibilities with little oversight. Additionally, she is well-versed and has an in-depth knowledge of the company’s products, services and policies.

Lanthusha Performs a variety of specialized and confidential administrative assistance duties for the hotel’s top management which is a complex and diverse administrative assistance. Her work assignments demands the incumbent to use a high degree of independence, discretion, and tact, and exercise sound judgement.

Anushman Ariyaratnam – Human Resources Manager

With sound knowledge in human resource management, sales and marketing, and payroll and accounting, Anushman brings both strong formal education and practical hands-on experience to this important leadership role. His professional background, energy, and vision will continue to be an asset to the hotel.

His key responsibilities are developing strategies for operations and coordinating human resource activities across the organization. He works closely with department heads to design and implement plans that will benefit all employees and enhance the organizational performance and capability.

Jagath Perera – Chief Engineer

Jagath is a data-driven executive with over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. A people-focused leader, Jagath is driving change within The Thinnai through original concepts of “Imagineering”. He has a reputation for building high performance teams that embrace change.

Jagath is a detail-oriented problem solver capable of managing multiple programs from concept to fruition. He oversees a team of maintenance supervisors and technicians, manages all aspects of preventive maintenance programs such as developmental processes and new budget strategies, and ensures overall safety of the people and property.

Sanjaiyan Rajasingam – Infrmation Technology Manager

Sanjaiyan, a university graduate, handles the hotel’s IT-related works that includes various software systems, computer hardware and networking systems. Furthermore, he oversees the hotel’s digital strategy, driving growth and innovation through technology-led customer-centric experiences, products and services.

Sanjaiyan’ s experience in the field, along with his high-caliber track record as a visionary, results-driven leader, is invaluable to the hotel as we emerge from the pandemic and develop our business through innovative, customer-centric technology platforms and an ever-expanding digital footprint.

Premkumar Rasalingam – Guest Service Manager

We are impressed with the leadership and guest service skills Prem has demonstrated over the years, and how he has a sound affinity with our guests. Many of our long-term guests appreciate and admire the attention he extends. His continuous desire for growth and his ability to quickly learn all of the intricate details of managing the front office of a busy hotel make him the right person for the position.

As the GSM, Prem leads the front desk, guest relations, telephone operators, bell service and the transportation team. He also works to further develop the skills of the property’s front office employees to improve guest satisfaction and revenue generation.

Aravinth Sukumar – Residet Naturalist

One of the friendly faces you are certain to see on a stay at The Thinnai is the face of our Resident Naturalist. Aravinth is a motivated individual with a passion for natural history, nature conservation and sustainability. He grabs every opportunity to advance his knowledge of the natural world.

His primary responsibility is to lead custom adventures and customized field excursions for individual guests and corporate groups. He also studies flora and fauna that can be found within the hotel premises and educate the staff on nature conservation and sustainability through trainings, and formal and informal feedback. He spearheads The Thinnai’s sustainable development initiatives and develop strategies to successfully implement them.
