Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara is pleased to announce that George Koumendakos has been appointed as the hotel’s new General Manager as of March 22, 2021.
A passionate hotelier with international experience across Europe, North America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa, Koumendakos’ wealth of overall managerial experience as well as his business acumen and strong leadership skills will be important assets to further enhance the hotel’s prestigious image. Prior to joining Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara, Koumendakos served as General Manager at , Sri Lanka.
In his new role, Koumendakos will be responsible for the daily operations and strategic directions of the 312 rooms and suites hotel, alongside 4 Food & Beverage outlets, executive lounge, 7 event spaces, the award‐winning So Spa and a fitness centre. Koumendakos’ main priority will be to ensure a safe and secure environment for his guests and colleagues while driving more business opportunities in the domestic market.

With his 35‐year career in the hospitality industry and extensive knowledge and experience, General Manager Koumendakos is a great asset to Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara, which will be celebrating its fourth anniversary in August this year. The hotel will continue to provide guests with magnificent experiences and uphold the traditions the brand is renowned for while striving to further enhance service quality.
In his free time, Koumendakos is keen to explore Malaysia’s tourist destinations with his wife and two children.
