Hotel Erwin, the wonderfully weird and beautiful boutique hotel in Venice Beach, announced the appointment of Ashley Truman as Executive Chef.
In her new role, Truman will draw from her diverse industry experience to further enhance the dining experience for special events at the hotel, High Rooftop Lounge, Erwin’s Kitchen & Cocktails and Venice Way Pizza, opening next month.
“We are thrilled to welcome Chef Truman to the Hotel Erwin family,” said General Manager Derek Haug. “She is incredibly talented, and we look forward to having her fresh perspective infused into our culinary offerings.”
Truman comes to Hotel Erwin from The Citizen Hotel, Autograph Collection, where she served as Banquet Sous Chef. She has vast experience in banquet and catering and specializes in pickling, fermenting, fine dining, house-made pasta and wood-fired pizza. Truman began her culinary career at the Hook & Ladder in Sacramento after graduating from culinary school at the Institute of Technology.
Among her many culinary inspirations, Moulden cites her upbringing in Northern California and cooking with her mother, along with her time working in the Farm to Fork Capital of the World, where she gained an appreciation for fresh, local seasonal products. Truman has picked up influences from her travels across the U.S. and internationally throughout Mexico, Germany, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Holland and Canada.
