Brian Mauro named General Manager of Holiday Inn New York JFK Airport Area

M&R Hotel Management, operator of 23 hotels in the New York metropolitan area and Midwest, today announced the appointment of Brian Mauro as General Manager of the 201-room Holiday Inn New York JFK Airport Area hotel, just east of John F. Kennedy International Airport in Jamaica, New York.

He will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s management, including operations, sales, marketing, security, maintenance, housekeeping and accounting. He also will serve as liaison with the operator of the independently managed Brookville Restaurant & Bar on the hotel’s second floor.

Mauro, a 23-year hospitality industry veteran, formerly was general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Long Island City Queensboro Bridge hotel in New York. From 2014 to 2017, he was general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Riverhead hotel in Riverhead, New York, and assistant general manager at the Courtyard Long Island MacArthur Airport hotel in Ronkonkoma, New York, from 2012 to 2014.

From 2011-2014, he was director of property operations at the Holiday Inn Plainview-Long Island hotel in New York. Mauro served in positions of increasing responsibility at hotels in Marlboro, Massachusetts; Warwick, Rhode Island; and New York from 1995 to 2014. Mauro earned associate, bachelor and master’s degrees in hospitality management and administration at Johnson & Wales University, Providence, Rhode Island. He is certified in fire safety, food protection, pool and spa operations, CPR and first aid.

“Brian Mauro’s wide-ranging experience in hotel management in the greater New York market, including as a general manager at another Holiday Inn, makes him eminently qualified to lead the team at the Holiday Inn New York JFK Airport Area hotel,” said Brian McSherry, M&R Hotel Management chief operating officer.

The Holiday Inn New York JFK Airport Area hotel at 154-71 Brookville Blvd., an InterContinental Hotels Group franchise, features flexible meeting and event space that can host groups of up to 70, a 24-hour fitness center, grab-and-go lobby market, guest laundry and complimentary wireless internet, airport shuttle and daily newspaper.

Guest rooms – a mix of king and double-double rooms – feature Guest Link centers that provide access to the Internet, a port for connecting personal computers to the television and outlets for charging computers, phones and tablet devices.

In addition to the Holiday Inn, M&R operates four other hotels near the airport: the 216-room Hampton Inn NY-JFK, 128-room Holiday Inn Express New York JFK Airport Area, 75-room Days Inn by Wyndham Jamaica JFK Airport and 88-room Best Western JFK Airport Hotel.

Based in Great Neck, M&R Hotel Management also operates two other hotels in Queens, six hotels in Manhattan, one in Nassau County, New York, three in Missouri, three in Illinois and two in Indiana.

M&R operates hotels under the brands of Marriott International, Hilton Worldwide, Choice Hotels International, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Best Western Hotels & Resorts, in addition to IHG.

M&R’s business plan calls for further expansion of its portfolio in New York and beyond through third-party management contracts.

M&R also provides consulting services in hotel site and contractor selection, feasibility analysis, permitting, financing, franchising, human resources, sales, marketing, revenue management, food and beverage management, brand management, account and risk management audits, e-commerce, design, accounting and engineering.
