Dignitaries from Asean Leaders Summit get preview of The St. Regis Langkawi

On the heels of the ASEAN Leaders Summit, The St. Regis Hotels & Resorts exclusively previewed The St. Regis Langkawi, welcoming dignitaries from the Summit. Owned by Integrated Nautical Resort Sdn Bhd (INR), the resort is a joint-venture between Rajawali Group, Malaysia Ministry of Finance and Langkawi Development Authority. Following the private hosting of the ASEAN Leaders Summit dignitaries, The St. Regis Langkawi will be officially open to the public in November 2015.

“I am delighted to host ASEAN leaders at The St. Regis Langkawi, to present first-hand the tremendous potential of our islands,” said Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia. “The St. Regis Langkawi and Integrated Nautical Resorts, as anchor investments, will greatly elevate Malaysia’s luxury hospitality landscape, bringing it on par with the likes of Monaco and Bali. And with the integration of the ASEAN Economic Community later this year, as well as Malaysia’s position as the ASEAN Chair in 2015, we are committed to transforming Langkawi into a world-class nautical tourism destination, showcasing the depth of Malaysian hospitality.”

Scheduled to open its doors in November 2015, The St. Regis Langkawi is situated within an idyllic cove in close proximity to Kuah town, Langkawi’s shopping and commercial centre, and is approximately a 20-minute drive from Langkawi International Airport. The resort will include 85 well-appointed suites and 3 water villas, each boasting a view of the Straits of Malacca. Each guestroom will also feature the signature St. Regis Butler Service. Trained in the English tradition, St. Regis butlers provide discerning guests with around-the-clock customized services, anticipating each guest’s every need.

“St. Regis is a game-changer to Langkawi’s luxury tourism offerings,” said Stephen Ho, President, Asia Pacific, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. “Its rich heritage, refined sophistication and bespoke services, coupled with Starwood’s strong membership loyalty program Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG®) , will enhance Langkawi’s efforts to become an international nautical holiday destination and gathering place of affluent global travellers.”

“Langkawi is emerging as a world-class luxury destination,” added Tan Sri Peter Sondakh, Chairman of Rajawali Group. “It is among the world’s best islands, and we feel that it’s a great opportunity to introduce the St. Regis brand and its uncompromising services, offering bespoke service to worldly, well-heeled travellers.”

Dato Dr. Isa, Chairman of INR, also lauded the development of The St. Regis Langkawi as an excellent platform to bolster the Langkawi Blueprint strategy, to strengthen the luxury travel segment in the islands, as well as to enhance the vibrancy of the country’s north-western coast.

A myriad of culinary experiences, with five food and beverage venues, will keep up with the rich heritage and legacy of the St. Regis brand. The resort’s signature bar will serve the legendary Bloody Mary cocktail, born at the flagship St. Regis New York hotel in the early 1900s. The resort will also create a local version of the Bloody Mary, a tradition that every St. Regis around the world cherishes.

Guests at The St. Regis Langkawi will also be able to indulge in a range of luxurious specialty massages and well-being treatments, crafted to pamper and allure their weary senses in a tranquil and private Spa Salon. Other resort amenities will include a swimming pool, gym and function space, with access to expanded meeting facilities at the ultra-modern Langkawi International Convention Centre (LICC).

Upon its full completion later this year, The St. Regis Langkawi will join a growing portfolio of over 30 distinguished St. Regis hotels around the world. The resort will also further strengthen Starwood’s footprint on the island, where the company currently operates four properties under Sheraton, Westin, The Luxury Collection and Four Points by Sheraton brands. Starwood continues its aggressive expansion in Malaysia, and is on track to add eight more hotels in the next four years, including The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur and W Kuala Lumpur.
