Nesuto Docklands apartment hotel, positioned in the heart of Melbourne’s District Docklands, is delighted to announce the launch of a dedicated focus on Japanese guest comfort and care, designed to enhance the travel experience of Japanese travellers.

The launch comes as Japanese visitor numbers to Australia continue to increase with more than 423,000* arrivals into Australia in the year ending December 2025, marking a 7 per cent increase compared to 2024. Japan ranks seventh in arrivals among Australia’s international source markets, with total trip spending reaching A$2.2 billion in the year ending September 2025, an increase of 9 per cent over YE September 2024.

Damon Lunardello, General Manager at Nesuto Docklands said, “Melbourne is firmly on the itinerary for Japanese travellers, and Nesuto Docklands is positioning itself as the accommodation of choice for this valuable and discerning market. Nesuto translates to nest in Japanese, representing a place of comfort, care and belonging, and we are excited to introduce thoughtful Japanese comforts including new Japanese bathroom appliances and culturally considered amenities.”

Nesuto Docklands’ focus on Japanese travellers reflects both the brand’s Japanese heritage and a genuine commitment to culturally considered hospitality. Guests booking at Nesuto Docklands will be welcomed into a thoughtfully prepared premium apartment that balances Japanese familiarity with Nesuto’s ‘stay real’ Melbourne experience. Studios feature TOTO washlet bathroom appliances (a staple of Japanese daily life rarely found in Australian accommodation), slippers, robe, a specialty green tea set-up. Early check-in and late check-out are also available upon request for a stress-free stay.

In keeping with Nesuto Docklands’ ‘Explore Local’ positioning, guests can connect with Japanese-friendly dining and experiences in and around The District Docklands. A guide to local restaurants, cafés and retailers known to cater well for Japanese visitors forms part of the welcome, ensuring guests feel at home in Melbourne from the moment they arrive.

“We prioritise Japanese guest comfort to not only reflect the Japanese origins of the Nesuto brand but to show real care and cultural understanding when welcoming Japanese travellers. As inbound tourism from Japan continues to be a top-tier growth market for Australia, Nesuto Docklands is ensuring that we are ready to meet that demand with a ‘stay real’ experience that combines Japanese living with Melbourne character,” added Damon.
