Mews, the industry-leading hospitality cloud, has revealed that over 15,000 hospitality professionals have now completed a course with Mews University.

Mews University is a self-guided learning tool that empowers hotel staff to better understand the Mews platform in order to spend more time delivering memorable guest experiences. It provides several learning paths tailored to specific roles – for instance, front desk staff and revenue managers – which allow staff to quickly become experts in their role.

“We love Mews University, which became indispensable for our staff training,” said Mike Parsons, Revenue and Projects Manager at Cornwall Hotel Collection. “It’s particularly useful for new team members who can onboard quicker. Since it’s a self-guided course, it cut our training costs by half and ensured consistency of our processes.”

In addition to helping staff to use Mews effectively, Mews University can have a big impact on the wider hotel business. While staffing shortages in hospitality continue, spending less time and resources on training new talent is vital. As is creating a more engaged workforce: positive onboarding experiences make staff 18 times more committed to the company and 38% more effective at their job. Mews University courses are easily digestible, with videos and interactive walk-throughs, and are available in five core languages.

Declan Fitzhenry, Managing Director at The Regent, commented: “The training at Mews University is seriously impressive. Not only is it a superb method of teaching, but it helps us generate in-house experts who know exactly how to use the PMS to generate the best results.”

Strawberry, the largest hotel group in the Nordics, recently onboarded all its 225 hotels onto the Mews platform. Alongside Mews University, the team also took advantage of the Train the Trainer program, which empowers chosen hotel staff to become Mews experts and lead the rollout themselves. This reduced onsite training to just five hours, ensuring a smooth transition for existing staff and fast onboarding for new team members. It also allowed Strawberry to go live with Mews in 3-5 hotels every week, meeting its ambitious rollout targets.

“We talk a lot about remarkable hospitality, but it’s ultimately the staff on the frontline that have to deliver it,” said Matt Welle, CEO at Mews. “Mews University gives hoteliers all the tools and learnings they need to help them do what they do best, while relieving some of the business burden on training and hiring.”
