Sofitel Melbourne on Collins wins three awards for its diverse MICE offering

Sofitel Melbourne On Collins has cemented its position as Melbourne’s most versatile MICE hotel after being recognised with not one, butSofitel Melbourne three awards in recent weeks including the Meeting & Events Australia (MEA) Victorian State Award for Special Event of the Year, The Green Room Award – Cabaret Best Ensemble for its partnership and delivery of FUTURE. JOY. CLUB and also Highly Commended in the Wedding Industry Awards.

The prestigious MEA Victorian State Award for Special Event of the Year recognised the way in which FUTURE. JOY. CLUB helped kick-start the arts sector after a difficult few years while enticing Melbournians out of a post-COVID slump.

Created by Sofitel Melbourne On Collins General Manager, Mr Clive Scott, Finucane & Smith Director, Moira Finucane and Jackie Smith, the bold, brave and courageous burlesque show was staged in a specially created nightclub at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins for a four-week period from July to August 2022.

In being awarded ‘Special Event of the Year’, MEA acknowledged how FUTURE. JOY. CLUB. created opportunities for local performers by employing 20 local artists after a bleak COVID period, kept ticket prices low and brought immense joy to thousands of people who were struggling through the show’s sponsored ticket initiative.

Sofitel Melbourne On Collins also recently received a Highly Commended in the 2023 Wedding Industry Awards showcasing its adaptability as an events and meeting space for any type of function or special event.

In addition, as part of the 40th Green Room Awards, FUTURE. JOY. CLUB was recognised as Cabaret – Best Ensemble which acknowledged the contributions of the many, diverse artists and technicians who work on stage, backstage, in the grid and in the pit. 

Offering an ideal position at the Paris end of Collins Street, Sofitel Melbourne On Collins boasts 12 elegantly stylish and versatile venue spaces that can host meetings and events for up to 1,000 people in the illustrious Grand Ballroom which enjoys endless views of the Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens to Port Phillip Bay. 

Meanwhile, the Arthur Streeton Auditorium features a lit stage with a 16ft screen and fully tiered seating for up to 350 delegates while the Fitzroy Ballroom offers a pillarless deco-inspired function room with stunning 18-foot ceilings and interiors that offer an intimate space for up to 300 people seated for a theatre style presentation. 

La Trobe Ballroom boasts a webbed ceiling and space for 250 people banquet style or 350 theatre style, or for something truly unique, why not use the Level 35 Tower Suites or Victoria Suites for a more intimate affair.
