TUI Way of Working: 10,000 days of flexible working worldwide

More and more employees are taking advantage of the TUI Workwide Programme.

TUI employees can spend up to 30 working days a year doing their job anywhere in the world. One year after the introduction of the global TUI Workwide programme, almost 800 colleagues from 34 different countries have worked flexibly worldwide for a total of 10,000 days. A working stay abroad lasts an average of 8.5 days and the place of work can be freely chosen: TUI employees have so far set up their mobile offices in 82 different countries as part of TUI Workwide. This can be an extension of a family holiday, a visit to family or friends on the other side of the world, or simply time in a place where one has always wanted to work.

“We offer our colleagues extensive flexibility in how they organise their work – locally at home and abroad. The past two years have shown that virtual cooperation is efficient and also works well across national borders. At the same time, we also see that the office workplace continues to play an important role. This is where TUI’s corporate culture can be experienced, creative processes are easier to organise and spontaneous exchanges with colleagues are more successful. Flexibility in terms of work location and working hours on the one hand, offices as a place for collaboration and exchange on the other – both concepts belong together for TUI and complement each other,” says Sybille Reiß, HR Director of the TUI Group.

Employees from Germany are particularly active users of TUI Workwide, followed by their colleagues from the UK and Spain. Spain tops the list of countries from which TUI employees work. But Italy, France, and Greece are also popular places to set up a flexible offices – as are Peru, Curacao, and the Dominican Republic. Whether in Europe, Australia, or Africa – as long as the job profile allows for it, the stay is agreed upon with the manager and doesn´t impact the wider team, and the conditions on site are right, TUI employees can work from almost anywhere on a temporary basis. These international work opportunities are in addition to the flexibility that TUI also offers its employees in their home country. Because even in Hanover, Stockholm, or London, many employees are able to decide for themselves whether they work from home or in the office.
