Queensland Country Tourism (QCT) has appointed respected tourism public relations specialist, Rebecca Astier, further strengthening the organisation’s ability to tell the stories of Queensland Country and elevate the profile of its diverse destinations across Australia.
With more than 20 years’ experience in tourism, hospitality and destination communications, Rebecca joins Queensland Country Tourism as PR Lead under the banner of her consultancy, Glasshouse Communications. Working closely with the QCT team, she will lead the organisation’s public relations and earned media program, delivering strategic media relations, destination storytelling and media hosting across the region’s ten (10) member destinations.
Her appointment comes as Queensland Country Tourism continues to build momentum through destination marketing, industry partnerships and advocacy, showcasing the people, places and experiences that make Queensland Country one of Australia’s most rewarding regional destinations.
Queensland Country Tourism Chief Executive Officer Sally Scott said the appointment reflects the organisation’s renewed commitment to elevating the profile of Queensland Country through strategic storytelling and meaningful media engagement.
“Queensland Country has no shortage of incredible stories to tell. From our welcoming country towns and remarkable natural landscapes to our passionate tourism operators and producers, every destination offers something genuinely special,” Ms Scott said.
“Rebecca brings extensive experience working with leading tourism brands and destinations, along with strong media relationships and an exceptional understanding of the travel landscape. Her strategic approach to public relations will help us tell our stories in a way that inspires more people to discover Queensland Country.
“Importantly, this role will support all of our member regions, creating a coordinated public relations program that shines a spotlight on the diversity of experiences across Queensland Country while delivering meaningful opportunities for our local tourism industry.”
Rebecca has spent more than two decades developing communications strategies and securing national publicity for some of the world’s leading tourism, hospitality and lifestyle brands, including Tourism and Events Queensland, Accor, TFE Hotels, Wendy Wu Tours, Six Senses Resorts and Plantation Island in Fiji.
She said she was excited to work alongside Queensland Country Tourism and its member regions to bring more of Queensland Country’s stories to life.
“Queensland Country is one of those regions that constantly surprises you. Just around the next bend there’s another incredible landscape, local producer, country town or hidden gem waiting to be discovered,” said Rebecca.
“I’m excited to work alongside the team and our member regions to uncover and share those stories with new audiences. If we can encourage people to wander a little further, stay a little longer and discover the authentic stories that make Queensland Country so memorable, we’ll be showcasing the region at its very best.”
As Public Relations Consultant, Rebecca will deliver an embedded public relations function for Queensland Country Tourism, including proactive media relations, destination storytelling, media hosting, strategic communications support, editorial content development and reputation management.
