DoubleTree by Hilton, one of Hilton’s 14 hotel brands, has celebrated the opening of the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang, which joins three other DoubleTree hotel properties in the country: DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Melaka and DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru. It also becomes the 50th DoubleTree by Hilton property in the Asia Pacific region.
Located in the vibrant beach area on Penang’s north coast, overlooking the Indian Ocean, DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang is a family-friendly resort with exceptional facilities for all ages – including access to Malaysia’s first teddy bear-themed museum, TeddyVille.
This upscale resort is just 45 minutes drive from Penang International Airport and 20 minutes from Georgetown, the island’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed capital, which is accessible via a complimentary shuttle bus service from the hotel.
ÒBlessed with a rich history, diverse culture and tropical scenery, Penang is a truly enchanting destination. We are delighted to bring the brand’s warmth and genuine hospitality to the country,Ó commented Jamie Mead, Regional General Manager, Linda Giebing, DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang’s General Manager, added; ÒWe have experienced strong demand since the hotel started operating in January, with high occupancy and interest from the events sector. I am confident that all guests will be captivated by our comprehensive range of facilities and renowned standards of hospitality.Ó Overlooking Miami Beach and the turquoise seas beyond, DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang features a distinctive design concept that blends contemporary style with classical Peranakan motifs.
There are 316 rooms and suites; all equipped with walk-in rain showers, 40-inch LED TVs and Wi-Fi. Many rooms also feature a private balcony with sea views. Families can opt for two inter-connected rooms linked by a hallway door to create a private sanctuary, complete with double and twin bedrooms and separate bathrooms.
Families also have an array of dining options to choose from, including special children’s buffets at Makan Kitchen, the resort’s lively all-day dining restaurant. Alternatively, guests can pick up light snacks – including DoubleTree’s signature chocolate chip cookies – at The Food Store, or enjoy refreshing drinks at the Axis Lounge.
Children will be kept entertained at the kid’s club, which features a wealth of immersive activities for youngsters, and a babysitting service is available. This will allow parents to enjoy their own quality time, perhaps with a revitalizing treatment at the spa, a workout at the fitness centre, or simply by relaxing around the tropical outdoor pool, which features its own beach.
All ages can then come together at TeddyVille – a unique attraction that celebrates the origins of the humble teddy bear. With its large, cuddly collection, this delightful museum will captivate children and adults alike. Guests at the resort will enjoy 20% off the entrance fee.
Finally, the resort features state-of-the-art conference space, including three flexible meeting rooms for events of between 12 and 120 delegates, an outdoor terrace and a spacious ballroom capable of handling 550 guests. This makes it the perfect setting for every occasion, from corporate conferences to social soires and spectacular seafront weddings.
The new resort is also part of Hilton Honors guest-loyalty program. Hilton Honors members who book directly through preferred Hilton channels have access to instant benefits, including free standard Wi-Fi, a flexible cash/points payment slider, an exclusive member discount and point’s redemption for free nights.
