Maslina Resort, located on Croatia’s island of Hvar, is thrilled to announce it has received the ‘National Award for Sustainable Tourism’ at this year’s Croatian Tourism Days, the inaugural accolade of this kind presented in Croatia. This monumental milestone highlights the resort’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, community, and the philosophy of Mindful Luxury.
Croatian Tourism Days is the country’s largest gathering of travel and hospitality professionals and celebrates those whose hard work and commitment elevate Croatia’s tourism industry. As part of the nomination process, Maslina Resort presented its sustainability initiatives to the judging panel at the University of Zagreb. The five-star hotel’s sustainable philosophy is structured around four pillars:
- History & Construction – preserving heritage and thoughtful architecture
- Hotel Operations – responsible practices across every aspect of the guest experience
- Contribution to the Community – engagement and support for the local community
- Future Efforts – a long-term vision for environmental stewardship and sustainable growth
These pillars reflect the hotel’s daily commitment to mindful choices, from architecture and design to responsible operations, community engagement, and the environment. The judges recognised Maslina Resort as a leader in sustainable hotel operations, affirming that sustainability is not merely a trend, but a core principle of modern hospitality in Croatia, Europe, and beyond.
“This impressive accolade is a reflection of the vision, care, and mindfulness that form Maslina Resort’s foundations,” said Maslina Resort Founder & CEO, Maud Truchi. “Our Mindful Luxury philosophy is a commitment to respecting nature, our community, and the people who make our story come alive each day. I hugely appreciate the team for their hard work and innovation in doing things differently, and our guests who have embraced our ethos and have been an integral part of our journey. This award is a true testament to everyone who has supported Maslina Resort since day one – we look forward to working with you to continue making positive change!”
For the first time, the Croatian Tourism Days introduced national awards for sustainable tourism across three categories, positioning Croatia among the first European countries to honour sustainability at a national level. The awards were presented by Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina and Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais, the incoming Secretary-General of UN Tourism, who selected Dubrovnik and the Croatian Tourism Days for her first official visit, in recognition of the city’s leadership in sustainable tourism. Croatian Tourism Days brings together more than 1,500 participants through inspiring discussions, expert panels, and a grand awards ceremony.
Maslina Resort continues to lead the way in sustainable luxury tourism, setting an example for the hospitality industry while preserving the natural and cultural beauty of Hvar for future generations.
