InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile is proud to announce the appointment of Nabil Moubayed to General Manager. A veteran hotelier with over two decades of experience, Moubayed looks forward to bringing his deep expertise in the Midwest market and passion for mentorship to the recently renovated hotel along Chicago’s most renowned corridor.
Moubayed was with Wyndham International for six years before joining Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants where he proceeded to lead five hotel openings and later contribute to five brands across IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio. His former roles at Kimpton include VP of Operations, Area Director of Operations for Midwest, Mountain, and D.C. regions, General Manager of Kimpton Gray, General Manager of Hotel Palomar, and General Manager of the Hotel Monaco, all located in Chicago. Most recently, Moubayed was the Regional VP of Hotel Operations, Luxury & Lifestyle Americas at IHG, where he primarily oversaw hotel operations for properties across the portfolio.
Throughout his career, Moubayed has been recognized for his leadership and exceptional service numerous times, recently becoming an IHLA GM of the Year Finalist in both 2018 and 2021. He also received the IHLA Ambassador of Hospitality Award in 2017, Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group Total Asset Management Award in 2012, Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group Bill Kimpton Award in 2009, Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group Most Gracious Host in 2008 and Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group Leadership Award in 2007.
In his new role, Moubayed plans to leverage his deep industry expertise, multicultural perspective, and caring leadership approach to create a hotel experience that is equally impressive to its employees as it is to its guests. One aspect of the role he is particularly passionate about is encouraging his team to take part in quarterly volunteer initiatives, most notably in support of the Chicago Food Depository. Through operational excellence, strategic efficiencies, and thoughtful team development he will lead the hotel team to deliver top-notch results.
