PATA confident that Asia will play pivotal role in tourism growth in the Asia Pacific region

Following the release of the PATA Executive Summary Forecasts Report for the years 2024 to 2026 released earlier last month, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) today released a more comprehensive Asia Pacific Visitor Forecasts 2024-2026 report, taking a deeper dive into growth projections, focusing on the source market-destination pairs from 2024 to 2026 for each of the three Asia Pacific destination sub-regions. This report covers 39 destinations within Asia Pacific forecasting from 2024 up to 2026 in a series of three possible scenarios.

Damon Page joins SH Hotels & Resorts as Area Managing Director for Asia-Pacific Region

 SH Hotels & Resorts, the sustainable hotel brand management company that operates 1 Hotels, Baccarat Hotels, and Treehouse Hotels, today announced the appointment of Damon Page as Area Managing Director for its Asia-Pacific region, an area that is a focus of exponential growth for the company.  Damon will oversee each brand’s development throughout the region starting with the 2024 opening of 1 Hotels & Homes Melbourne (277 guest rooms & 114 hotel-branded residences), which he will manage directly on a day-to-day basis, and followed by the 2026 arrival of Treehouse Adelaide, each brand’s first in Australia. Damon will also use his extensive industry experience to oversee new asset development and strategic direction for pre-opening and existing operations teams including 1 Hotel Haitang Bay (Sanya, China), which opened in 2020 as the brand’s first property in the area.

Hyatt announces plans for first Hyatt House Hotel in Australia

Hyatt Hotels Corporation today announced that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into an agreement with an affiliate of Holder East Ltd for a Hyatt House hotel in Melbourne, Australia. Expected to open in 2025, the 97-guestroom Hyatt House South Melbourne will mark the entry of the Hyatt House brand in the country, demonstrating Hyatt’s growth of its select service brands in the Asia Pacific region.
