Hotel technology provider Avvio, which boasts the worldÕs first booking engine powered by artificial intelligence, will take the stage at the largest global tourism trade fair on now.
Avvio is part of the line-up at a special workshop at ITB Berlin in Germany.
Ian Sloan, Vice President of Client Strategy at Avvio, will speak alongside Charlie Osmond, Chief Tease at Triptease, for the workshop.
Called ‘Making the most of your booking engine: personalisation, pricing and seamless guest experience’, the workshop takes place Ê2pm Thursday, 8 March.
“Customers should understand that hotel booking experiences can still widely vary.” Ian Sloan. He said ÒThe world has changed and the days when the same customer experience can be given to everyone are gone. E-commerce giants like Amazon have set the benchmark and there is an expectation from customers that booking a hotel should be just the same. So, make sure you do your research and choose a booking engine that offers personalised, relevant experiences to each and every guest.
ÒThe likes of Netflix, Uber and Spotify have set the bar so high that most of us consider that level of personalisation to be normal. If I have already made a booking and I come back to the site and you look like youÕve never seen me before, itÕs a lousy customer experience. We canÕt continue providing the same messages through a Ôone-size-fits-allÕ hotel website or booking engine.
ÒDuring the workshop, we will be discussing emerging technologies such as AI and Blockchain as topics, but there will be discussion around specific areas of distribution like Airbnb pulling hotels onto their platform, and GoogleÕs continual moves into all things travel.Ó
Ian joined Avvio at the start of this year, bringing 15 yearsÕ experience working for major global hotel brands.
He works closely with hotel owners and managers, ensuring Avvio continues to develop and enhance its services in line with their future business plans and strategy, as well as industry trends and changes.
