MyEarthCheck – Managing energy drives positive social, environmental and economic outcomes

EarthCheck’s benchmarking and performance software, MyEarthCheck, was officially recognised by BAFA as an ÒEnergy Management SystemÓ in February 2018.

For tourism enterprises, the challenge many have faced is integrating their initiatives and having a consistent set of organisation wide sustainability metrics (social, environmental and economic) which will allow them to track, monitor and benchmark their achievements over time.

MyEarthCheck, a cloud solution with a centralised reporting platform, allows both quantitative and qualitative information to be brought together in one place. BAFA has been instrumental in promoting the efficient and economical use of energy, helping to drive Germany’s transition to renewable energy.

By working with EarthCheck, German tourism businesses will be able to measure, report and manage their environmental and social management processes across their organisation.

ÒEarthCheck has always believed that you can’t manage what you don’t measure,Ó EarthCheck Founder and CEO Stewart Moore said.

ÒSimply saying that you care or saying that you are committed to action is no longer good enough.Ó

When organisations manage and improve compliance in areas such as environmental emissions, energy efficiency and waste management, they save costs, support local economies, conserve natural resources and cultural heritage, and help to improve the quality of life for locals and visitors alike.

The MyEarthCheck platform assists members to measure, monitor and make ongoing improvements in five key performance areas including:

  • Energy Consumption
  • Greenhouse Gas Emissions
  • Potable Water Consumption
  • Waste Generation
  • Community Commitments.

ÒEvery business should commit to collecting sufficient data to understand their operational footprint. This data needs to be accurately collected and benchmarked to allow the organisation to understand how they are performing against their peers and their own business plan expectations,Ó Mr Moore said.

ÒEarthCheck is honoured to receive this recognition and we are looking forward to continuing to support the German tourism industry take action on future water, waste and energy initiatives.Ó
