Tivoli Hotels to debut in Amsterdam with the historic Tivoli Doelen Amsterdam Hotel

Tivoli Hotels & Resorts continues its expansion in Europe announcing the brand’s upcoming debut in the Netherlands. The Tivoli Doelen Amsterdam, located in the city centre by the canals, is scheduled to launch in March, bringing to the city the cultural heritage and outstanding service of the Tivoli brand, after the rebrand of the NH Collection Doelen.

The historical property along the River Amstel is a recognised city sight with its roots back in the 16th century. The hotel started as the former Kloveniersdoelen, a place where military aristocrats practiced their skills, as well as holding gatherings and banquets. It’s the oldest hotel in Amsterdam, with the classical building evoking a time when hotel stays were grand experiences. Upon entering the marble clad lobby exceptional hospitality, together with a Dutch ancient legacy, become part of the stay.

Tivoli Doelen will offer 81 keys in categories ranging from superior rooms to suites with their own unique stories and history. The guest rooms are sophisticatedly decorated and offer views over the canal. The property is located in the historic city centre close to the main tourist attractions including the Rembrandt House museum, the Rembrandt Square, Royal Palace Amsterdam, the Flower Market and the Anne Frank Museum.
Tivoli is proud to offer its guests an authentic cuisine in every destination, with a careful selection of regional and seasonal products to make the best traditional recipes. At Tivoli Doelen, the lounge and the bar area will serve an impressive selection of local gins and liqueurs. Due to the strong connection of the hotel to the legendary Dutch painter, Rembrandt Van Rijn, the herbs and essences of his time will be the stars of the Omber restaurant new menu, where the chef will elevate the dishes to a new artistic level.

Ludo de Jong, General Manager of Tivoli Doelen Amsterdam Hotel, confirms: “We are delighted to soon become the newest member of the Tivoli brand. The historic boutique hotel will be a perfect addition to the Tivoli portfolio, a property where the brand’s savoir-faire will combine with local Amsterdam touches, in terms of sights, experiences and cuisine.”

With a strong connection to both gastronomy and art, Tivoli’s classic hospitality fits like a glove with the historic Doelen hotel and its rich history. One of Netherlands’ most famous sons, Rembrandt Van Rijn, was one of the hotel neighbours and his magnum opus, The Night Watch, originally hung in the hotel. In cooperation with a Rembrandt expert and Rembrandt House Museum, a new artistic experience will created. Fulfilling the brand’s genuine connection to each destination, the hotel will offer an immersion in local culture, combined with the outstanding service and personal attention for which Tivoli hotels are renowned.

Currently with a portfolio of 16 properties in four countries (Portugal, Brazil, Qatar and China), Tivoli Hotels & Resorts is owned by Minor Hotels and managed by NH Hotel Group in Europe. With the opening of the Tivoli Doelen Amsterdam Hotel, the brand will expand its portfolio bringing some of its cosmopolitan atmosphere and style into the Dutch market.

With a journey that dates back to 1933 in Lisbon, Tivoli will arrive in Amsterdam in March 2023, the month of the brand’s 90th anniversary, celebrating its sophisticated hospitality in each destination. This will also be the year that Tivoli will accelerate its expansion in Europe, adding a property in Spain, another in Portugal and now also the Netherlands, with more to come in other European destinations.
