Nestled at the base of Snow King Mountain and considered one of Jackson’s premier destination resorts with Instagram-worthy scenic views, Snow King Resort recently completed an extensive $6 million remodel to the property’s 203 guest rooms and suites. General Manager Gregg Fracassa made the announcement.
The recent transformation, which commenced in October 2019 and completed in June 2020, showcases a completely new design that included a refreshed color palette that is woven throughout the fabric choices and wall color, the addition of upgraded furniture and surface finishes, carefully chosen artwork that reflects the unique character of the valley, remodeled bathrooms and upgraded amenities.
“We’re thrilled to unveil what is a major transformation to Snow King’s guest accommodations,” said Fracassa. “The enhancements still embrace the rich western heritage of the property and the destination, while adding a more contemporary, warm and inviting ‘at home’ feel.”
PCL Design, based out of Vancouver, BC, Canada, was the interior design firm responsible for reimagining an updated vision for the accommodations. “The organic architecture of the resort is reflected in its use of wood, stone and metal accents throughout the property,” said Scott Parry, owner and head interior designer of PCL. “The core of our approach was to select a color palette that would feel comfortable in cold winter months and warm summer days. Hence, our theme of Oats and Iron sprang to life.”
The concept plays homage to the region in that oats represent fodder for the ranch horses and rough-woven canvas feed sacks. Iron is found in cowboy spurs and branding irons, representing the indomitable spirit of the founding pioneers. As a result, according to Parry, by blending the colors of warm oats and cool iron together, the color of weathered fences on the range emerged. Hence, the wood finish on the new guestroom furnishings, evokes wooden split rails yet is smooth to the touch yet while the furniture style provides a clean, straight-line, crisp appearance. Iron accents are sprinkled throughout the rooms and can even be seen in the base of the desk lamps. Wyoming’s brilliant blue sky was chosen for the accent color which was used in varying degrees of tone and texture in both fabrics and accent walls. Blackout curtains, in a silver-grey fabric with a slight sheen, adorn the sliding glass patio and balcony doors, adding a textural balance to those rooms with existing brick walls while reflecting the light back into the room during winter months.
Carefully chosen artwork introduces a touch of whimsical character to the rooms, playing off of Jackson’s summer and winter seasons, while warm tonal triptychs of wranglers on horseback and vintage in style, offer a reminder that modern day cowboys still have a treasured and lasting presence in Jackson Hole.
Remodeled bathrooms combine contemporary clean lines with warm, wood plank flooring and simple, open vanities of rustic-washed wood and granite countertops with nickel brushed faucets, walk-in showers with Italian tile and floor-to- ceiling sliding glass doors. Guests can choose from king accommodations with walk-in showers or double queen accommodations with a tub/shower combination.
