JW Marriott is delighted to announce that JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa will be opening on the island of Vagaru, Shaviyani Atoll, the Maldives in November 2018. The impressive 61-villa property will be headed up by renowned General Manager Marc Gussing and will bring fierce competition to the Maldives with highlights including a private pool with every villa, a treetop restaurant, an expansive wine cellar, a vibrant house reef rich in marine life, a Kid’s Club by JW and Spa by JW.

Set to open on the northern Maldivian island of Vagaru in the Shaviyani Atoll, JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa will be a scenic 55-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport, Male. Guests will be spoiled from the moment they land in Male with a Fleet of JW cars escorting them from the international airport to the resort’s private TMA seaplane Airport Lounge.

Guests will have a choice between five villa categories ranging from 234sqm to 638sqm, all of which come with private pools and spacious wooden decks. There will be 29 secluded one- and two-bedroom beach villas nestled amongst the island’s lush greenery, each with its own private beach area. For guests who like to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean, there will be 32 villas standing majestically on stilts over the glistening Laccadive Sea and one spectacular four-bedroom Royal Water Villa that will come complete with nanny’s quarters.

A serene Spa by JW will provide guests with the chance to fully re-charge and relax on their holiday. Six treatments rooms, one Royal Treatment Suite, a gym, yoga pavilion and beauty salon will ensure guests return to the UK feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Five restaurants and three fully-serviced bars, along with a chef’s garden and extensive wine cellar, will provide guests with exceptional dining experiences. Outlets include:

  • All-day dining restaurant serving international dishes
  • The poolside Bistro offering authentic tastes of Italy including pizza from a wood-fired pizza oven
  • The Rum Bar & Kitchen serving Thai tapas in a treetop setting
  • A Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant with private dining options
  • A Grill Room restaurant serving crustaceans and prime meat cuts in a fine-dining setting
  • The poolside Swing Bar with exotic cocktails and mocktails
  • Multiple destination dining options

Additionally, the resort will offer The Pier, an ever-changing pop-up dining concept open at differing times throughout the year, the Curry Pit which will offer spices of the Indian Ocean and will only be open on chosen evenings subject to reservations, 24-hour in-villa dining and private dining in select locations.

An iconic JW Kid’s Club with indoor and outdoor space will be available for children. The club will keep little ones busy with an abundance of interactive activities that are designed to educate as well as entertain. It will be a child’s delight with games rooms, a pirate ship, coral planting, an educational Fauna and Flora corner, arts and crafts, reading areas, kids pools, obstacles, sleep corners and more.

Children are not the only guests who are kept entertained at JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, a cigar room, shisha room, karaoke room and games room will be available to guests over the age of 18. The resort will also show films nightly at its open-air cinema and offer shopping boutiques, a library and a business centre.

JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa will have its own Wedding Specialist for those looking to plan their special day or honeymoon on the island. With a photo studio at the resort guests will have the chance to capture and remember their holiday for life.
