The international expansion of NOVUM Hospitality is progressing even faster: renowned Zurich-based property developer and general contractor Steiner AG and Hamburg-based NOVUM Hospitality has signed the long-term lease agreement for the first niu hotel in Switzerland.

The 131-bedroom building will be opened in autumn 2021 in the large, new ÒGlasi-QuartierÓ in northern BŸlach, north of Zurich, where a new district is emerging in a former industrial area (previously the GlashŸtte BŸlach glassworks) with a future concept mixture consisting of residential and commercial areas, and a residential and care centre run by premium service provider Tertianum.

The first Swiss niu will offer 131 rooms measuring approx. 17 to 24 square metres, as well as a 330-square-metre living lobby with reception, bar and restaurant. Guests will also be hosted on a terrace. The hotel will be located directly next to a cycle path (gangway) and close to the regional train station with a direct connection to international ZŸrich/Kloten Airport.

ÒThe location in BŸlach near Zurich, convenient for holidaymakers in Switzerland and business travellers, will enable the best success for our market entry in Switzerland and serve as a blossoming phase for further planned hotel locations,Ó stated David Etmenan, CEO and Owner of NOVUM Hospitality: Òwith developer and general contractor Steiner AG, we have found a very experienced project partner with over one hundred years of tradition and extensive expertise in special-purpose hotel real estate for our new niu success strategyÓ.

Daniel Ducrey, CEO of Steiner AG, is very much looking forward to working with NOVUM Hospitality: ÒThe new niu hotel will add to the mix in the up-and-coming Glasi-Quarter in BŸlach and complement the planned range of services perfectly. In addition, the cone-shaped hotel building will give the new district a striking face.Ó

On the site of the former GlashŸtte BŸlach factory, a new quarter will emerge in the next few years with around 560 apartments, businesses and shops. Further information about the Glasi-Quartier in BŸlach can be found at glasi-bŸlach.ch.

The first building belonging to the modern niu hotel concept (comprised of the first letters of the German words for sustainable, innovative and urban) was opened at the beginning of February in Essen. There are currently over 40 more niu hotels being developed or built all over Europe. The next new openings are coming up in Haarlem in the Netherlands, and FŸrth, near Nuremberg.

Each niu hotel tells a unique story and takes the guest from the very beginning on a journey to the obvious features and surprising peculiarities of the respective location. But that’s not all: niu lives up to its adventurous character in many respects. From the living lobby to the bar, niu is open and vibrant. Globetrotters can expect the latest technology, carefully selected snacks and drinks, and regular trend events.
