Michael Pearson has joined The Cottage in the Wood Malvern as General Manager, with a clear vision: to further establish the boutique hotel as a unique destination where guests come to enjoy the natural surroundings of the Malvern Hills by celebrating the good stuff in life.
Born and raised in Malvern, Michael returns to the area and brings his managerial skills and trendsetting vision to the four-star hotel, which is close to his heart as a place he used to visit with his family. Having previously worked as Operations Manager at Tewkesbury Park, Michael rose through the ranks from bar supervisor to food and beverage manager in various hotels in the UK.
The Cottage in the Wood Malvern, which won Hotel of the Year at the Worcestershire Tourism Awards in 2023, has recently been awarded four AA stars, and 1919 restaurant gained 3AA rosettes in September this year. The team, led by Michael, is working towards making it the go-to place for foodies, with the continued introduction of new, seasonal tasting menus, exciting new cocktail experiences and regular events to entertain.
About his appointment, Michael said: “Working at The Cottage in the Wood Malvern was always a dream of mine. It’s been a place for family gatherings, which I remember from when I was growing up, and even as an adult I always dreamt about what I could bring to the hotel if I were to manage it. I am excited about the new role and working closely with the team to bring the experience to life.”
