Hotel La Compañía, the first hotel in Central America to be part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, is thrilled to welcome Anya Buitrago as Director of Sales & Marketing. The hotel, which was originally built as a Jesuit convent in 1688, opened last April to offer guests the ideal location for an authentic, cultural vacation experience.
At Hotel La Compañía, Buitrago will be responsible for managing all sales and marketing strategies, tactics, and promotions to strategically generate awareness and sales across audiences within the luxury travel, leisure, culinary, wellness, meetings, groups, weddings, and trade verticals. As director of the department, Buitrago will lead a team of sales and marketing specialists and liaise closely with the hotel’s General Manager, Fidel Reyes.
“We are delighted to welcome Anya to the Hotel La Compañía family,” said Reyes. “With more than a decade of sales experience and her passion for the Panama tourism industry, we are certain Anya will deliver strong results while creating and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients and guests.”
In her most recent role, Buitrago was Director of Sales at Grupo VerdeAzul, where she led the department in implementing strategies to exceed its booking goals and property revenues. Throughout her ten-year career, Buitrago has served as the Director of Sales & Marketing at Sheraton Bijao Beach Resort in addition to the International Sales Director at Hard Rock Panama Megapolis.
Buitrago holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Tourism & Hospitality Management (2011) and a Business Administration degree (2013), both from Universidad Latina de Panama. She is currently pursuing an MBA in post-graduate studies, and she is fluent in both English and Spanish.
“I am excited to take on the role of Director of Sales & Marketing at a property that’s centered around historic architecture, luxury service, fine cuisine, cultural experiences, and intentional art and design. I look forward to introducing this spectacular hotel to discerning travelers, business executives, wedding guests, and more,” said Buitrago.
Hotel La Compañía is an architectural masterpiece centered around three periods in the hotel’s history – the French Colonial, Spanish Colonial, and American influences. The property features 88 luxurious guestrooms, five restaurants, two bars, five function rooms, a rooftop bar and lounge, a spa, a rooftop infinity pool, a fitness center, and over 20,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor space for meetings and events.
