Paul Cannings named General Manager of Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel

Having worked his way up to his current position, Paul commenced his career with Marriott International in 1998 and held various positions in the Rooms Division at the Renaissance Sydney Hotel, Melbourne Marriott Hotel and Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa.

Paul is not a newbie in the Malaysian hospitality scene. He joined Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel in 2008 as a Resident Manager and was promoted to General Manager at Courtyard by Marriott North Ryde in 2010. Paul opened Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Pangyo in 2013 as General Manager and his role was clustered to open Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Namdaemun from October 2015.

Award-winning Paul has bagged several awards during his time in Korea, including ÔGeneral Manager’ of the Year, ÔDiamond General Manager’ of the year and last year he was awarded the prestigious ÔLeadership of Excellence’ for his performance in 2016. He was also the chairperson for the Korean Business Council and helped the team achieve the best balance scorecard since the council’s inception.

In his current role as the general manager at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel, Paul functions as the primary strategic business leader who is responsible for all aspects of the hotel operation, including guest and employee satisfaction, financial performance, sales and revenue generation and to deliver a return on investment to the property owner.

Whenever time permits, Paul loves travelling and running. He is also a passionate snowboarder and enjoys mountain bike riding.
