In his capacity as Chief Operating Officer, Mr Hooley will spearhead Oaks and AVANI’s corporate and commercial operations in its key markets of Australia and New Zealand Ð where it currently has a portfolio of over 50 properties.
Since making its foray into the AU/NZ market in 2017, AVANI Hotels & Resorts has already opened the doors of AVANI Broadbeach Gold Coast Residences and AVANI Metropolis Auckland Residences, and under Mr Hooley’s leadership, will continue to grow in these key regions, with AVANI Central Melbourne Residences slated to open later this year.
He will also be instrumental in developing forward growth strategies for the hotelier and providing leadership across various corporate factions to deliver continued business excellence.
Prior to joining Minor Hotels, Mr Hooley held the role of General Manager of the Shangri- La Hotel, Sydney, following on from a successful tenure at Shangri-La International Hotel Management in Hong Kong.
Mr Hooley has also amassed extensive industry experience during his impressive two-decade-long hospitality career, having held several key leadership positions with Mirvac Hotels & Resorts and InterContinental Hotels Group, both in Australia and overseas, spanning operational, management, commercial and human resource disciplines.

Mr Hooley will be based in Minor Hotels’ regional office in Maroochydore on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. He is also currently a member of Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA).
