Michael Czarcinski appointed General Manager at Moana Surfrider

Hospitality industry veteran Michael Czarcinski has been named general manager of the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, as announced by Area Vice President Harris Chan, Marriott International Ð Hawaii & French Polynesia. Most recently, Czarcinski served as general manager of the 1,350-room Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, California.

In his new role as general manager of the 795-room resort known as the ÒFirst Lady of Waikiki,Ó Czarcinski will oversee the general management of the property, including the rooms division, food and beverage operations, sales and marketing team, and Moana Lani Spa, a Heavenly Spa by Westin. Czarcinski is a well-established leader in the Marriott International organization with a career spanning more than 38 years. He started his career as an assistant general manager at the Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y. Over the last few decades, Czarcinski has held leadership positions at various resorts, including Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C. and The Claremont Resort in Berkeley, Calif., before becoming general manager at the Westin Bonaventure in 2005.

ÒMichael’s diverse experiences within the visitor industry in many areas of the country Ð most recently in Northern and Southern California Ð make him the ideal person to carry on the tradition of the 117-year-old Moana Surfrider,Ó said Chan.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel management from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I.
